how long does it usually take for free members to turn into paid?

I started sending PPC traffic to fling.com, about 2 days ago:

so far :

clicks: 473
free joins: 36
free join ratio: 1:13
paid joins: 2
conversion: 1:236
$50.00

I spent quite a lot more on this traffic. Does it take time to get the paid joins with dating sites or not really?

yeah it normally takes awhile to get full paid members, if they upgrade at all.

you may want to switch to a pay-per-free join program. some of these programs are paying upto $4.00 per free join.

I know of all the major programs but which ones have it at $4.00 right now that actually work well? =)

What I'd suggest for buying PPC traffic is buy a few day's worth, whatever your budget is, then stop and wait maybe 2-3 weeks. Then see if you amde a profit or not, if so buy more and keep it flowing, if not - well try something or someone else :)

It depends on the site of course, but I think 2-3 weeks is enough time to see. Some will still convert later on of course, some will convert faster. You have to try for yourself - unfortunately, that means being patient.

Not sure about free, on www.xxxstudio.com we use a 2.95 30 day trial to hook members that end up staying for the 39.95 monthly rate. Each 2.95 trial ends up netting us $35 after transaction fee's within the first year. Hope that helps.:2 cents:

Seems like some very nice stats there actually....

I normally find that in 7-10 days from a given date that 99% of those that were going to pay have paid. After that, unless something really becomes a must have for them they were just seeing what they could get for free. Some companies let you restrict the access of free members. When this is possible I do and that tends to help conversions.

Also, on 36 free joins I'd expect 3-5 sales on average.

For the most part I only promote one group of dating sites, but I suspect the others are similar. Paying members run the gamut from paying immediately to waiting more than a year (!!!).

If you don't use subids/tracking codes, you should. It makes it easier to tell where/when the traffic came from that resulted in the signup.

lol here is an update for you guys on total stats:

clicks : 1045
free joins: 81
free join ratio: 1:12
paid joins: 2
conversion: 1:522
$50.00

I've got a good amount of credit with a PPC search traffic , but I would have spent $258.41 on this traffic.

If anybody has any suggestions I can always signup under your ref code or whatever you want. I have PLENTY of credit left with this PPC traffic.

bumping this

You should be getting paid anywhere between $2-4 per free join. You should stop sending and wait a couple weeks to see if you get a few more sales off what you already sent. Dating sites usually take a few weeks to fully convert, that's why per free is nice.
