anyone drive on the autobahn in a sports car?
 

A friend hooked me with a new carrera s4...

I drove from munich south towards austria and through bavaria..

germany is so beautiful---every 10 miles or so I would see a little village in the middle of these huge mountains (looks like right out of lord of the ring)

anyway--i red lined the car going downhill in 6th gear----was almost 300 kilometers---i know i was over 280 a ton which is 175mph

everyone just gets out of your way..scariest feeling is driving 175mph past someone doing 60mph

anyone into cars--you have to go to germany to drive---

Well my friend have sports car but we never drive on autobahn.

I would love to go on a drive around europe but my cars engine is blown :o/

I've often wondered how people with different driving styles (and capable cars) coexist on the autobahn... I presume there's plenty of lanes so that people can find their comfort zone? It would be fairly intimidating to see a car in your rear view travelling twice as fast as you...

see--thats the thing--its only 2 lanes where i was driving---i tried to stay away from congested city areas which is where there is 3 or more lanes

also the congested areas are where there are speed limits---i read 80% of the entire autobahn has no speed limit---

1 thing i learned AUSFAHRT means exit---LOL

Hmmm, overtaking could get pretty hairy then... you'd have to floor it to make sure that someone travelling 100mph faster in the lane you've moved into temporarily isn't going to suddenly appear and run up your back 10 seconds later

I have tried it, its a great thrill for sure ...

btw--you have to remember--most cars have brakes to match the speeds they can go--especially german cars....

i mean--i would be doing 175mph--and u see 1 mile ahead a car passing a truck doing 70 or 80 mph in left lane---your on there ass by your next eye blink--but the brakes the porsches have and im sure all the other german cars is why there is not many accidents--not once did i almost crash or hit someone and i drove like a madman (once i had the hang of it) LOL

and i saw 100's of 911 but not 1 boxster.....pretty funny

Even a Mercedes with a straight 6 cylinder in it can do 250km on the autobahn. And that is fucking fast.

Anything over 200km starts to get a little testy. But it's fucking fun. :thumbsup

Unfortunately it vice versa, most of it is limited to 130 km/h or lower. And there are really many construction sites :disgust

I drive a highway daily with a bunch of loser who can't drive so I pretty much take a chance at any speed

i was just thinking about this a few days ago. A deer or moose could really fuck you up a 300kph.

There are areas on the way north from Toronto where you could hit those speeds. The eyes glowing at the side of the road tend to make me drive just over the limit though.

i completly agree with you. it was the first question i asked. do deer or animal run on the road?????????????????my best friend owns an auto body shop. my neighborhood is loaded with them..

Do they have wildlife corridors/bridges that keep the animals off the roads or have they just eaten them all!

It would be nice to be able to drive at those speeds without worrying when the next bambi burger was going to jump in front of you.

Back in the 80s my friends and I drove down from Norway and CRUISED the autobahn in a racer of a Audi 50

It was a scary ordeal. LOL

best is driving in the early morning hours when everything (for the most part) is empty
3 am or something on not so crouded streets
makes you feel like being on a race track

Ahh, the autobahn. We use to pile in a mercedes in the ole days and fly down that puppy. Too bad we dont have nice freeways/highways here in the states where you can go that fast in comfort.

Germany Rocks...lots of good memories and good people there

i really thought about it--im sure i could have kept the car longer--i thought i would be a little scared--where i was there was some serious turns--u need to break before you hit so you can accerate throughout the turn and i did not know how well its lighted....

drove there a few times with my chrysler 300c too bad that at top speed you drive from gas station to gas station :pimp :1orglaugh

Rented a Passat wagon, but it was really struggling to accelerate over 200km/h

i did...
the same day i went shopping for a bmw in germany, i drove 300+ an hour
one highway of about 500 miles, from nuremberg to some city in the north... was fun.

most of the autobahn has fences left and right, accidents with anmials happen, but rarely. we don't have that many big ones anyways.

what really a problem is are idiots that pull over to the left lane to overtake a truck at 55 mph and don't bother you coming from behind with 155 mph. i had that a couple of times, luckily i was always able to break fast enough.
but i think cause people are used to be more aware about what they are doing we have way less accidents on the autobahn than other countries

real nice video--where is that--i was way south in bavaria--all i got is pics of your ausfahrt signs---i git pic of me out side my car in front of a sign that does not say autobahn--cause no signs do---but at least the sign was in german--lol
