One of my neighbors turned me onto Spanish wines. (oh yes, I knew Pingus and a few others) but holy crap, some of these spanish wines are excellent and cost only 20 bucks or less. its a crime I tell you.

my wife likes chilean wine, damn its strong. i like valpolcella.

its a very cool hobby and with any form of alcohol, you need to aquire a taste for it. once done, its a lifetime of enjoyment.

The only chilean wine I've had tasted like dirt. (no offence, could have been a bad wine)
but I'm just not ready to embrace our wine making friends south of the border. its an unusual climate for wine I think.

I had me a bottle of merlot with a nice steak & lobster dinner last year. Christ that shit got me drunk.

I actually had a great merlot about two weeks ago. I don't generally drink it but this one was good.

Yeah, this one was a heady red, fruity but not cloying, with a woody finish. Knocked me for a loop.
