Why is green so hard to compress?
 

When I compress pics, I always notice that when a pic has a lot of green in it, it is harder to compress. I have to compress it at a much higher setting for it to match the small file sizes as other pics. Anyone know why this color is such a bother?

I'd put it down to green being mad up by two prime colors plus contrast settings, but then again I don't know.

I know that red and green are the hardest colors for the eyes to process (that's why Wes Craven made Freddy Kreuger's sweater red and green), but not sure of why it's harder to compress, but I'd imagine the above theory about being made up of two primary colors, etc.
