Cold weather + scrolling = crash

As weird as it sounds, when my computer is too cool I often experience a black screen and a system lockup while scrolling (ctrl+alt+del won't reboot the comp.)

It doesn't happen in warm weather, and it doesn't happen when I keep a heater pointed in the general vicinity of the intake fan. I think it's the video card: NVidia GEforce 440MX ... but I can't find anyone who's had the same problem.

Opinions?

Have you tried kicking your screen refresh rate down?

I did. I can't understand what the cold weather has to do with it; it can't be condensation.

It's also freaking cold here right now, but I'm not having the same problem.

Download TweakUI. Turn off 'smooth scrolling', or set your video card to "No Accel." Your GPU probably has a fairly weak mount.
