Sorry, I thought I could pull this off :(

I really really tried to replace my morning coffee with green tea. I want to kick my caffeine addiction but it's so hard. I am really considering making a fresh pot of the good stuff and it's only day one.

I like the green tea but everytime I go to drink it I am expecting my sweet tasty coffee.

Anyone else trying to kick the coffee habit?

bl4h 09-21-2006 08:30 AM

No but i have a severe iced tea addiction. i get severe headaches when i dont get the caffine....but ill never quit :]

Whenever you come up here we will have a drinking/smoking binge bud!

TampaToker 09-21-2006 08:32 AM

haha i am on day 3 here and its killing me :Oh crap

Dragar 09-21-2006 08:32 AM

I had to kick it due to stomach problems and headaches
I find a pepsi every couple days helped me rid the coffee blues
I thought it would make me sleepy during the day
but after a while I found that I sleep less and have a better sleep

fallenmuffin 09-21-2006 08:32 AM

Coffee/Smokes... good stuff lol.

I should probably cut back.

Grapesoda 09-21-2006 08:33 AM

hell no . . coffee is the best thing in the world right next to corvettes and pussy

martinsc 09-21-2006 08:55 AM

i couldn't survive half a day without coffee....

I am starting to think that too :( Time to make another green tea

PGR 09-21-2006 09:07 AM

I succesfully made the switch from coffee to green tea about a year ago.. But I'm averaging 3-5 cans of coke zero per day, so that's pretty much defeating the purpose of giving up coffee, lol..

JUSTB 09-21-2006 09:08 AM

green tea has caffeine in it, just not as much as coffee

I'd suggest going to the asian market and buying some good quality jasmine Green tea leaves and brewing it that way. It's much stronger and more aromatic

SitedepthOmar 09-21-2006 09:10 AM

don't fight it life's too short

Elli 09-21-2006 09:10 AM

Green tea is caffeinated... the leaves are just processed differently.

Dagwolf 09-21-2006 09:12 AM

I cut way back on the coffee and started drinking iced tea recently. I'm finding that I'm a lot less tense and irritable.

Brad Gosse 09-21-2006 09:19 AM

FYI I am drinking caffeine free peppermint green tea :)

I am staying off the caffeine ones for now.

Bama 09-21-2006 09:29 AM

I probably have one of the worst coffee addictions of anyone around here.

I was (at one time) drinking up to 12 pots/day but now I'm down to only 3 or so per day. I drink it all day and night and go upstairs in the evening with 2 travel mugs of coffee to get me through the night and yep, I drink it when it gets cold (though not iced).

I hear reports now and then that says coffee is bad for you, then hear other reports that it's good for you but quite frankly, I love my coffee and will never stop drinking it.

I don't want to die healthy. Though I'm in no hurry to get there, I want the coroner to cut me open and say I deserved to be on the table!

Buzz 09-21-2006 09:39 AM

I've become a morning coffee addict this summer :helpme
Don't feel alive until I get a cup, and tea makes it even worse :(

Verbal 09-21-2006 09:43 AM

I'm not fighting the coffee as much as the 2.5 pounds of sugar I put in there every morning.

squishypimp 09-21-2006 09:44 AM

i love tea :) hate coffee.

I am in the exact same boat, I just can't get used to it though..

Maybe I should take smoking back up and give up coffee, not sure If I can get through the day with just tea..

Good luck anyway :) I might give green tea a go

BlackCrayon 09-21-2006 09:51 AM

i never drank coffee. i used to drink a lot of pepsi but i don't drink that or any kind of soda any more. its a good way to cut down your calorie intake if you care about that kind of thing.

SleazyDream 09-21-2006 10:04 AM

i had a BAD coffee habbit when i was in the financial business - very hard to kick but well worth it

Daymare 09-21-2006 10:13 AM

start an exercise routine (if not already doing so) and just drink water instead of coffee. in 4 weeks you won't even need coffee anymore. You'll have more energy, higher metabolism and wake up and go to bed no sweat.

pornpf69 09-21-2006 10:20 AM

green tea sux!!

ssp 09-21-2006 10:24 AM

Like suggested elsewhere in this thread, most supermarket green teas have caffeine in them. Look out for the decaffeinated ones. They will be more expensive but worth the try. Your local health shop will sell them.

You can also try different blends to see which taste you prefer. Some are more potent than others and more similar to the strong taste of coffee.

tranza 09-21-2006 10:26 AM

I'm not such a big coffee fan....

BitAudioVideo 09-21-2006 10:29 AM

why not do 50/50 mix of regular and decaf coffee for a week and then cut it down to 25/75 for a week?

i like the smell of the coffee brewing as much as i like drinking it

Aneros Josh 09-21-2006 10:31 AM

Green Tea is the only thing worse than coffee on your bowel functions

If you love coffee and caffeine is the issue just switch to decaff.

WiredGuy 09-21-2006 11:04 AM

Good question

I was up to a pot per day. That was too much in my book.

jwerd 09-21-2006 11:14 AM

I like twig tea. Same plant, just lower in caffeine. :thumbsup

I need an extra large Williams coffee to make it through the days lately, but i swear whatever they put in their beans is insane, it gets me worked up for 6-8 hours off a single extra large.

Extra large is usually a half pot of coffee. Williams is good :)

You mean is it bad to drink coffey every day?
Yes, for heart. Those people who suffer heart desease are forbidden to drink coffey.

Word. I'm back down to 1-2 pots of it a day, though... Down to. Sheesh.

godisdead 09-21-2006 02:20 PM

I usually don't drink coffee. And I hate the taste of both cola and energy drinks. I once drank an entire pot of coffee in 15 minutes. I started to feel blurry and all. Since then I can only stand little doses of coffee and I don't particularly like that either.

your organism is the same as mine. I also don't like coffey.

msan 09-21-2006 06:10 PM

Yeah I can't stand the taste of coffee. I prefer tea though.

no way, that is a lot of coffee lol

rodney25 09-21-2006 07:00 PM

I tried, but it's already hard to get this thing out of my system. I'm just thankful I'm not really a complusive coffee drinker like my dad. Damn, that man can consume, at least, 5 cups of coffee a day!
