bought a new 19" LCD monitor - images & text look like crap...
Any tech geeks here? I recently bought a couple Samsung 19" LCD monitors and text looks alittle funky and images are real grainy.
Is it just a crappy monitor or should I be making settings adjustments? |
sounds like a wrong driver

No idea, here's a bump for you.

or your resolution maybe. |
try 1280x1024 resolution
|
I would think the most likely cause is that Bin Laden is hiding inside your computer monitor, causing massive amounts of interference because of his dialysis machine. You may need to get a tech to look at it and get him out of there.

Images are still grainy. |
what model is it? I have a Samsung 940BF
|
usually 19'' LSD use the same resolution as 17'', just bigger at size
if text is good readable that's your working resolution images that's different story :) |

if grainy, back up the screen a little - you're too close haha
but seriously, its likely a resolution thing. Kinda hard to say from this end. |
im using samsung 920N 19" ... works fine for me..
|
Make sure you use the native resolution(1280x1024), most LCD's looks like shit at anything other then their native rez. Turn on Clear Type to make the text look better. As far as images, dunno. What video card are you using? Try updating the drivers for it and see if it helps.
|
If updating drivers and changing resolution didn't solved the problem then your monitor sux :Oh crap How much you paid for it? :2 cents:

I had the same problem after reinstalling XP the other day. The whole screen looked like shit. After I turned off the ClearType smoothing, I could see things the normal way again. Just not used to it. |

Your heading states "a" monitor, your post says "a couple"
If you are using 2 monitors I would say it's your video card. Try one at a time? |

man could be agreat many things...find someone to look see
|
dont wanna fuck around with such a purchase...
|
i'd say it's definately a driver issue
|
Are you using it with a VGA or DVI cable? If your computer supports DVI you want to be using that for better quality.
|
are you using an Analog or Digital connection?

I called Samsung and Dell and they said it was more than likely a video card issue. Does that sound about right?
|
That sounds like a driver issue, I remember something similar with one of my LCD screens.
|
Have you tried pluging it into another system or a video feed? To pass the driver issue. Did you get an un-understandable Indian when you called Dell?
Outsoursing sucks. |

What kind of cable do you have? Is it standard VGA? If so, that's analog, and it's going to suck.
All you can do with that is get a better cable between the LCD and the system, and pray that it helps.. or return the LCD. |
