question for baddog and others...LA to Phoenix drive
 

how is the drive from so. cali to phoenix? I want to drive up this weekend for my birthday to party with some friends

17-19.5 hours and some change depending on the truck stops you hit.
Make sure you have your passport as well as the federalis are everywhere.

Lol, not even close. Its about a six hour drive from LA, maybe quicker depending on how fast you drive and the traffic getting out. Mostly all desert and wide open road.

Six hours is very close to what I usually make that in.

I've made that trip more times than I'd like to remember.

Once you're out of Indio it gets boring as shit, bring good tunes.

You will love it. I take ALOT of trips from the bottom of California to the top and to the end of Arizona and the XM saves me. Never run out of shit to listen to.

I have made Ontario to central Phoenix in 4.5 hours, but 6 is probably more likely. After Palm Springs it gets to be a pretty damn boring drive and I lose cell phone reception in some areas.

Round trip flights from Ontario or even LAX are about an hour each way and can be had for under $100 with taxes if you book far enough in advance. If you take that drive once, you will probably want to fly instead.

Its a nice drive, dont go to late or you will have to deal with the truck drivers, six hours max.

The strangest part of that drive is that there isn't a cactus to be seen in Cali. You cross the border, and within 100 feet there's cactus everywhere. The only thing weirder is on the big island in Hawaii... in rain forest, and within 5 minutes of driving you're in desert with (yet again) cactus everywhere.

its about 8 hours from san diego.. going over the mountians on the 8 is kinda shitty at night if it rains. you can take the 10 all the way out from l.a. pretty easily

??? I've done the San Diego to Phoenix trip 100 times and its 6 hours tops. I just got back from SD last week and it took me 5 hour and 20 min. If its taking you 8 hours you must be going the wrong way or taking a 2 hour lunch break.

i recently drove with Lia19 and my other girlfriend to lake havasu and no joke took us 5 1/2 hours simply because we made 2 stops at bars and one to buy a CD they absoluetly had to have and only to find out they were out so we ended up pigging out at mc. donalds. Good fucking times. U driving alone?

Forgot to mention the drive to lake havasu should have taken no more than 2 hours.

it takes me about 5 hours to Pomona from far SE phoenix, I am going back to Pomona on the 2nd for a horse show. Pulling my horse trailer its about 6 hours

my very first road trip alone..the best times was from here to mississippi..oh what a time..
