Why doesn't McAfee like Silvercash?

I've just been alerted to the fact that my website XXX Feet XXX has been blacklisted by McAfee. On further investigation it is because:

"When we tested this site we found links to silvercash.com, which we found breaches browser security on our test PC."

I thought silvercash was a legit adult sponsor, so I wondered whether anyone here knows why McAfee has this problem?

I'm awaiting a response from McAfee.

Perhaps they have install software on their site.

Dragar 09-19-2006 05:27 AM

McAfee doesn't like anyone

xxxfeetxxx 09-19-2006 05:30 AM

The trouble is, if my site is blacklisted by McAfee it affects me getting galleries and the like listed.

I've just been told that silvercash manipulate browser settings. If so, it's very annoying as it looks like I'll have to drop them from my links (although they haven't converted well for me in the past).

xxxfeetxxx - How did they alert you? I wouldn't mind finding out if my personal sites are having the same problem. *I use McAfee and don't get any notices or messages on the actual software*

Yep, that's where I found it. It seems like I'm blacklisted because McAfee doesn't like what silvercash does and I'm linking to them.
I spoke to one of their online reps but it wasn't very helpful. He tried, but could only suggest I removed links to silvercash or wait until my site might be more 'trusted' (or some such phrase).

Yes, I went back and looked again and noted all those other sites have put me on the blacklist. It's a bit annoying since I try very hard to NOT put any of that kind of stuff on my website. I guess I could contact the sponsor programs and let them know why I'm going to have to drop them.

Zester 09-20-2006 12:19 AM

so you are on McAfee's blacklist, what are the consequences of that ?

squishypimp 09-20-2006 12:22 AM

maybe awhile back they got blacklisted for something like spyware?

xxxice 09-20-2006 12:23 AM

lol 12 and 17 pop ups my gosh :Oh crap

Tempest 09-20-2006 12:51 AM

What do you mean you were "blacklisted"? Are users of McAfee prevented from going to your site?

xxxfeetxxx 09-20-2006 03:00 AM

I think the main consequence of being 'blacklisted' by McAfee are that if anyone checks on my site with their siteadvisor tool it will appear like my site is not 'trustworthy'.
Anyone seeing that information can use it as they see fit. I only realised I was 'blacklisted' when I applied to be a partner at a TGP and they said that I couldn't post galleries from that URL or they would be refused.
However, my galleries have been accepted at other sites so it is only a minor irritation at the moment. Still a pain, though.

BlackCrayon 09-20-2006 05:11 AM

geez, i think its retarded they blacklist sites because they get spam after entering their email into their collection boxes.
