How well does a TV tuner card work?
Anyone know?
Im living in a dorm and I have a laptop that just sits around when Im using my PC at home. I figured instead of buying a tv i could just get a tv tuner card for my laptop. Anyone have any experiences with them in the past? |
never tried it actually, but im interested to see what happens with quality of picture.

I have a HDTV tuner in my main computer, and one in my laptop as well.
Quality is outstanding. Throw a copy of Windows Media Center on the laptop, and you've got a TiVo + more :) |
depending on what you want to do is what you should get. If you want to just watch it and you want something cheap you can get cheap usb 2.0 capture but if you want to capture hd quality and burn it to dvd or something you can get a usb hdtv capture which is a little more money around 100$ on ebay for a really nice one you can get a cheap one for around 30$ plus shipping.

hey myst why not just get slingbox? http://www.slingmedia.com/us/
that way your laptop doesnt get stuck to the cable all the time |
I have one for both my Mac (eyeTV) and PC (and ATI one) and they are pretty nice. Love to be able to record shows, fast forward through commercials really easy etc. Quality is pretty good too.
