Im not sure - I will be renting for the first x amount of time until I can get rid of my stuff in London. Then hopefuly I can pay cash for something.

Webby seems to be the guy in the know about this stuff.

1200mics 09-16-2006 04:19 PM

It's far cheaper to get external finance woj - the interest rates here are very high and inclined towards the short term (ten years etc) - that is, if you can find a lender - they prefer to deal with residents - but anything is possible.

A couple of companies have started offering mortgages at US rates to US citizens - so may be an option.

scardog 09-16-2006 06:27 PM

That is a beautiful place.

WarChild 09-16-2006 06:34 PM

That area should be plenty gay enough for you.

As far as I've been told, in most cases your US credit rating doesn't mean shit (depending on the lender). Bring cash and lots of it :winkwink:

My problem with Manuel Antonio is you don't actually get to be anywhere near a beach... Sure you get gorgeous views but I'd feel cheated if I paid that much for a "beach house" and had to get in my car and drive down to the beach and park on the side of the road every day.

tony286 09-16-2006 06:42 PM

that seems expensive for down there but beautiful

czarina 09-16-2006 06:48 PM

The best thing to do, is pay cash. And dont forget that you will need a connection. And not all places have connections.

scotty2hotty1111 09-16-2006 06:49 PM

nice place but it a little high

Tat2Jr 09-16-2006 06:50 PM

Are the monkeys included? :)

Back to the old story - if you want to be a millionaire in CR, bring two mill with you - there is a chance you'll be left with one mill :winkwink:

If you wanted that kinda house fuzebox, it would prob be better building one from scratch and going thru the hassle - construction cost is prob around a $1mill and the end result would be marketable.

Monkeys are "standard" in that region - there are around three species of em.

Antonio 09-17-2006 01:47 AM

ok, I don't get it, 99% of the GFYers think that a million bucks is nothing and now everybody says that the house's expensive, hey its only 3.2 times X noting, what's the big fucking deal?

martinsc 09-17-2006 01:54 AM

Sure is a lump just for living in - tho maybe OK as a corporate home. There are plenty very nice homes around the Pacific coast of CR far less than that - tho plenty at far more as well.

It's not exactly the type of property you buy on a mortgage - definately cash down :winkwink:

BTW... Ever thought of the origins of "mortgage"? Derived from the term "death pledge" or otherwise known as "how to buy a home and pay double" :pimp

rodney25 09-17-2006 05:09 PM

That view facing the sea is perfect! Congrats! :thumbsup

lol ... Nice view Damien - congrats :thumbsup :winkwink:

Was just showing that site to an architect this afternoon and "analysing" the property for "ambiance". Basically the plot size is only 1/5th hectare - the "environment" is already spread all over in that area (monkeys, parrots blah). It's all down to construction and pulling in an interior designer.

We got a project in planning a few miles from there and in an even more intense eco environment with similar ocean views (and about 2 kilometers of beachfront) and just trying to pitch a level for homes that would be at a marketable price level. Still thinking on this, but seems that price level would average roughly from $450K to a mill+, but plenty leeway on the upper end, tho inclined to take longer to sell.

Seriously - when you are aiming at rich gringos never underestimate the power of a few Monkeys and a Toucan.

Its a jaw dropping 3 1/2 million dollar palace - but what did everyone notice?

Think about it.

100% correct in that man - it's ambiance and emotion folks base their purchasing decisions on. Give folks an evironment that is kinda special and they love it. It's the same when it comes to investment in land - they see all the nice furry critters with human attributes and dump $500K on the table - always amazes me :winkwink:

This was so damned bad, I pulled the reigns in on some folks where it was blatantly clear they were gushing with emotion more than sense, and cut down their investment level. Although it's nice to have investors - its not really in their best interests sometimes. Got one couple last week who wanted to invest up to the hilt of their asset value. Why? Because they like diving and swimming with dolphins in a clear warm ocean - ie the dolphins were cute :winkwink: No thanks - cut the investment down, - no need for that level.

Won't laugh at shareholders, but hell, they can be funny as hell. One woman (a well-known jazz singer), nicknamed her "The Monkey Lady" who never did anything but chat with the monkeys. Fine, but when ya got to get a search party out at 10 at night and start roaming the rainforest trying to find her, and on the verge of pulling in the police for help - that gets boring :winkwink: We found her in the end - time mean't nothing to her - she was still chatting with the monkeys in the dark of course. People!! They gotta be saved from themselves sometimes :)
