My wifes trying to get me to buy a Mini Van ... :(

My wife really wants a Honda Odyssey ... We have two kids and she wants something with the slide doors and entertainment package. she is a stay at home mom so only drives to the store and local for the most part. right now she has an Acura TL S-Type and it's small with the kids.

what else can I get that will fill her needs and not make me an old mini van owner ..:1orglaugh

The one saving grace is that I'm going to get something a bit nicer for me to commute to the office with .. maybe a 525 or something.

plus she gave me the green light on a motorcycle .. nothing big it will be my first so I'm going to go used and older ..infact the guy up the block has a 99 Shadow VLX 600 that's all flat black with a straight racing bar .. not what i had in mind but it's pretty cool looking and i don't have to worry about laying it down (he only wants $1k for it) i figure I can get something nice in a year ..

I'm trying to get her to go for the Yukon .. she just hates the high suv's ..

stickyfingerz 09-16-2006 08:38 AM

Need a low suv? Well then Jeep Grand cherokee 2006 or 2007 Srt8 if you can find one. 0-60 under 5 seconds. Sits nice and low. Around 45k though.

Get an SUV if it's that important to you.

If I'd get a minivan I'd get the nissan one... it's badass.

GeorgeM 09-16-2006 10:10 AM

mini vans are great !

MikeVega 09-16-2006 10:16 AM

I even pushed for the FX35 (fx45 is too much for here ..just not needed) and she still wants that F'ing MiniVan .. her girlfriend has one and the two of them bring all 5 kids places and love it .. I just may have to breakdown and get one ..

If I get her the minivan I'm going for something manly for myself ..:thumbsup

martinsc 09-16-2006 10:27 AM

iwantchixx 09-16-2006 10:27 AM

Shuts down 3 cylinders once up to speed too like some of the dodges do.

OldSchoolJim 09-16-2006 10:39 AM

Mike...once you drive the minivan...you wont go back....i GUARANTEE you will love it....(but i keep my 355 in the other garage just in case of emergency...yes i know its not a 360 but what can you do)....just be sure to get one totally pimped with tvs and shit.....

Mrs. Lenny2 09-16-2006 10:41 AM

My vehicle is great for kids. It's easy to get in and out and there's a decent amount of room in the back. Plus, the seats either fold up or come completely out in the event you need additional room. The seats are water resistant and the floors are rubber, which allows for easy clean-up. The back seats are also stadium-style allowing the kids to easily see out the front window.

Ok, so some people think this vehicle is ugly, but I absolutely LOVE it. It's not necessarily an SUV and it's not necessarily a mini-van.

BTW, it's very reasonably priced.

I'll be getting the TV's and Navigation ..all that good shit .. plus I always have a 2nd car for me ... this is really for the wife and if we all go on long trips ..

I'm driving up for a weekend in Vermont soon ( 2nd weekend in Oct) and we rented a Dodge caravan with the TV's and Nav for the ride ( 5 hours ) I guess it will be like a test drive to see how bad or good it is ..:thumbsup

TurboAngel 09-16-2006 11:01 AM

If you get a motorcycle then you should let her get what ever she wants. You might as well do it and get it over.

Get an SUV or something. Jesus.

SteveLightspeed 09-16-2006 11:47 AM

Hi, I just had to answer this one. This is Steve's wife Shannon. It's my mini van ....but he drives it all the time. LOL... He had a Viper, he drove the mini van. They are nice!! They drive like a car and your kids can't swing the car door open and hit the car next to you. Just get a really nice one with lots of options. Also, they usually have more room then a lot of SUV's.

baddog 09-16-2006 11:55 AM

It has been quite a while, but I used to own a Dodge Caravan when I was married with children.

They are handy for that scenario.

BluntsandBitches 09-16-2006 11:56 AM

you have to make the wife happy :)

czarina 09-16-2006 12:03 PM

The Van is a better idea than you think. take a look at the Nissans. they are awesome

tony286 09-16-2006 12:06 PM

I dont have any kids but thinking of getting a minivan. When we travel to shoot ,I take my dogs and my equipment and would like to be able to stretch out when its not my turn to drive.

I just have a hard time seeing myself behind a minivan ..:disgust but i guess it's pretty much a done deal .. she wants it so I guess we'll be getting it ..:winkwink:

Unless you are so concerned with what others think about you, mini-vans kick serious ass. Not only do they have tons of room, typically they get much better gas milage than an SVU. They also really drive like a car and have more than enough power.

Not to mention they kick ass for family trips, shopping, or anything else where storage plus personal comfort for several people is key.

squishypimp 09-16-2006 12:38 PM

get one of the new SUV's instead, much better solution

Fizzgig 09-16-2006 12:49 PM

Does anyone still make full-sized vans?
