Comus Thumbs: Taming The Beast

Comus Thumbs: Taming the Beast
by Patrick Moore, September 14 2006

At first glance, the Comus Thumbs control panel looks as though it could oversee perhaps the most involved sci-fi supercomputer of all time. But when you trim down the fat and get at the heart of the script you'll find the bare necessities rather easy to use. While Comus is a TGP powerhouse, many of its features will remain untouched by the novice webmaster. I'll help differentiate between the functions you need to know and the more advanced ones you'll likely never use.

Now that you've got Comus Thumbs installed, what's next?

Are you asking about templates? You can go to the support forum and do a search on templates and they are well explained, I'd be more than happy to help out

As I'll probably start a TGP soon and I'm still a little unsure which script to use... I can download and install Comus for FREE and I can register my copy for FREE? And the only thing it'll cost me is 2% of my traffic?

yeah thats right. i usually pay someone to run our tgps but i decided to finally try to start one from scratch and run it myself as a learning project on the side. so far the whole thing has been frustrating as hell but im sure its not so bad after you complete the first one.

not really sure. this is my first attempt at creating and running a tgp. in other words i dont know shit about any of it which is why i always hired somebody to do it for us. let me put it this way, i set up comus and registered it. then i followed the tutorial dynamix posted all the way until the end. so now i have right around 5k hosted galleries that i added and i created a thumb for each of them.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

now what? how do i go from where i am now to having the finished product online, a nice-ass tgp with a great design that people can view? thanks for the tip about the support forum tho Vend. ill go over later and have a look at it.

Very cool, I think I found my script then :winkwink: And it's the same for me, just a learning process and my first small steps into the tgp biz, cause at the moment I'm only doing a site directory, a blog & several small freesites. And I don't really wanna pay like $200 or more for a script, when I'm just in the learning process. So, thanx 2 the Comus ppl for the cool offer! :winkwink:
