Looking for a pet monkey

Well, I am in Thailand and I have decided I want a pet monkey rather than a dog or cat. If anyone knows where i can get one let me know. Thanks everyone.

sickkittens 09-14-2006 07:08 PM

lmao, i should have expected a fair amount of pervertedness posting this question here, but in all actuality im being serious....

do u know how much work goes into having a pet monkey??
I looked into it a lot when one guy i was dating was talking about getting one..

they are just like having a 3 year old kid who NEVER grows up.. they have to wear diapers indoors until you can train them - and some never learn...
in reality it is like having a ADD spastic child on crack

CAREFULLY consider that you won't be able to take this monkey with you 99.9% of places u travel... and WHO will monkey sit for u when u need to travel anywhere

find some people who HAVE a monkey and ask them, join some sites for monkey owners and get the real word..

PLEASE dont buy a mokey as a "CUTE" idea.. thailand and other asian countires are already covered in once "pets" now abondoned into the streets after their owners realized how fucked up they are for pets.

A monkey once attacked me when I was a kid, bit part of my ear off. It was my fault because I kept shooting it with a rubber band gun lol. It was my neighbors, they do make a nice pet as long as you have patience with them. Sometimes they do not get along well with other pets though, they can be quite mean when they wanna.

Big_D 09-14-2006 07:55 PM

I have done the research on them and I know what it entails....Not worried about that, its not just a cute idea its something I have been wanting to do for a while. Just couldnt in the states, always way too much money

Spunky 09-14-2006 07:56 PM

They take a massive amount of time and energy and need a lot of room..don't get a spyder monkey..they are insane and will drive you there as well

reynold 09-14-2006 07:58 PM

Try visiting Thailand's local public markets; maybe locals still sell those cratures there.

Violetta 09-14-2006 08:09 PM

ask pippi longstockings!

Scootermuze 09-14-2006 08:40 PM

I bought a squirrel monkey from a pet store back in the 60's..

Way too much trouble.. it stunk.. and the little bastard bit me.. then after about 2 weeks it died..

At the time I was too young & dumb to worry about it not being a domesticated animal..

squishypimp 09-14-2006 09:04 PM

or better yet get a rhino!

are you sure? You will get tired of it very soon and your appartment may be seriously damaged.

No offense, but if you've done alot of research, wouldn't you know where to find one?

We used to have a monkey at home when my Uncle asked us to look after it..
it's cool but somewhat alarming..

a motherfuvking monkey bit my thumb when I was 5 years old, it happened at the zoo. It was a small monkey, all I wanted was to touch its nose, the beast thought I was feeding it

A friend of mine had a little monkey at home and it kissed her all the time. After some time we realized it liked her lipstick. :) Tasty.:)

Z 09-14-2006 09:41 PM

Don't do it man...trust me.

E$_manager 09-14-2006 10:11 PM

may be you'd better take a tropical parrot? Cacadu for example.

MyNameIsNobody 09-14-2006 10:15 PM

get something cool instead, like a panther.. then you can scare the crap outta people when it grows up.. if you manage to train it well enough not to eat you that is

Monkeys are noisy pets as well; especially if you have visitors in your house.
