Anybody here tried Windows VISTA?

Please tell me what you thought/think of it. I am downloading it now and am trying to figure out whether it is worth installing or if it is gonna be a BIG mistake.

Your input would be greatly appreciated

Your lover,

Jared aka Deraj

I would like to know to.....

johnny o 09-14-2006 07:02 PM

if you don't download it to a 2nd or 3rd machine and not your primary workstation, you should be ok. it's a beta.

beta-tester 09-14-2006 07:09 PM

I have tried Windows VISTA RC1. It rocks...that's all I have to say about it...
a little bit not compatible with all drivers, but hey, it's not final version, and there are no new drivers around...for example my 5.1 surround system doesn't work in vista (i can hear the music only on 2 speakers), and so on...

Sami 09-14-2006 07:25 PM

I haven't tried it myself but have heard alot of good things about it.

OG LennyT 09-14-2006 07:27 PM

If you got a spare box, go for it!

Spunky 09-14-2006 07:30 PM

I'll wait for the release..their beta programs always seem to be full of bugs

ALL betas do. That's what a beta is for. To get rid of the bugs. Otherwise it would be the regular version.

Cash 09-15-2006 04:08 AM

My PC is ok now with this OS, why ruin it with eventual bugs?

MaDalton 09-23-2006 01:57 PM

i tried it..

it's got a 90% copy of the MAC OSX look and feel, terrible slow on a Matrox GH550 card with 32 MB. But with my Wildcard VP880 card it didn't even want to start and hung up.

switched to Win2K look and feel (what i do anyways) - that's much better.

totally annoying: if you want to delete a desktop shortcut you have to press 3 times ok that you really want to delete it and have the rights to do so

explorer views have changed - sucks big time.

can't say that i'm much impressed, guess i'll continue to use XP until Vista SP1 is out.

might be only interesting for my 64 Bit machines, but then nearly no software i use runs on 64 Bit OS so far.

tranza 09-23-2006 02:03 PM

I'll wait a couple of months at least before trying it.

Sparks 09-23-2006 02:06 PM

I'm excited to see what it's like, but don't have a spare machine to put it on right now. I'll just wait for the actual release. XP works just fine for me right now.

Vitasoy 09-23-2006 02:17 PM

I'll wait for the final release
