E1-9 = enlisted rank
O1-9 = officer rank

E4 is an enlisted man...he would be either a Specialist 4 or a corporal
04 is an officer..in the army that is a major.

I spent 2 years active duty in the army at the tailend of Vietnam
I got out as an E4

I was a private in the greek military. I really kinda hated my whole experience almost got courtmarshalled for not taking orders. I did my time and left.

First enlisted in the artillery back in 2003 in the danish army. Then I Served as a Private in communications and now im a Private in the danish Infantry. (soon to be private 1st calss::thumbsup )

Canadian Forces for 10 years. Private in the Army did my parachutist training then a Leading Seaman in the Navy (E-5 Equivalant for our US commrades) as a Sonar Operator and Ships Diver.

In the Navy, I was a Crypto Tech.
