Father died tonight ..........

I'm new to this board, haven't really met anyone ... please no sympathy posts ... that's not why I'm here.

Guys ... take the time ... a five minute call ... a surprise visit to share a quick beer ... (make your girlfriend/wife wait in the car even)

Nothing deep, no reason ... just man-to-man ... friend-to-friend ...
What's up? How about those fucken Packers .... Gotta go ... later.

There is nothing I regret NOT doing ... I am just so glad for the many things I DID do!

Make sure you can say the same .... this is too tough as it is ... later guys, Lee

Trust me ... do it

brand0n 09-14-2006 12:59 AM

honestly you are taking the best route on this subject possible.

i WISH i had the chance to call my mother right now.. to hear her voice and to tell her how much i love everything she ever did for me

i would easly give my life for a 5 min conversation with my mother this moment..

without a second thought.

i am very sorry for your loss.

martinsc 09-14-2006 01:03 AM

The best post I have ever read on here.
Just this kind of gesture you are doing by promoting acts of kindness
is enough for your pops to be more then happy with you as he now rests in peace.

Refreshing to see posts like this.

Me and my father didnt speak for four years, but I was able to see him and he was able to make amends with me before he passed. I wish you the best and be strong. The way you are handling this is remarkable. You have had a good life with him and I wish you the best.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 09-14-2006 02:49 AM

I'm sorry for your loss.

After my mother passed away when I was quite young, I try to make a point of calling/visiting my father on a regular basis, if nothing more, at least to discuss baseball/football scores, which he enjoys so much.

I'm sure he appreciates it, and it gives me greater peace of mind, knowing that he knows that I am thankful for him, and think of him (and my mother) often.

When my father died I was still a kid, so I never got to know him man to man.

I did have a great friendship with my mother until she died though for which I was thankful to have the chance.
