CNN this morning: Drinking alcohol makes you more successful.
Anyone see the CNN story this morning about social drinkers?
Apparently a group is advocating that social drinkers stimulate the economy and are, by demographic, more successful people. It claims that people whom drink socially at business events, gatherings, engagements and happy hours are more likely to establish bonds and relationships. They are more likely to have a more expanded contact list. I know in my early 20s, my drinking led to an expanded contact list of girls that I had no idea what they looked like and a disturbing the peace ticket at the University of Kansas; But I think they mean something different on the CNN deal. The group is apparently actually proposing that anti-alcohol campaigns take this into account. Not sure about that, but the first portion is reasonable. I recall a study several years back that claimed social drinkers were more successful because they it was more typical for people that could afford it, to purchase it. Sorry, don't have a link, I heard it while I was packing. |
I could have told them that.:glugglug

Nice post.
I do think that Social drinking can help you. The opposite.... Drinking alone at home, can be very bad for you. That's just what i think. Never heard about study about it before. |
Posting this on GFY directly conflicts that theory.
|
alcohol beverage companies are paying CNN to make cheap propaganda and wash your heads, because they need to sell more beer, etc etc..

Sounds good to me :glugglug

They kinda of missed the point.
True: I have been offered more jobs (and accepted) while drinking then by applying with resumes, applications etc... By far...there is no comparison. But I think the reason is more simple. Drinkers are more laid back; friendlier and good at non-confrontational(useless) discussion; which makes them easy to get along with others at work. Non drinkers tend to be judgemental, opinionated, uptight and "higher-than-thou". Not a great person to have around when expressing off-color humor in the office. Non-drinkers will "rat" you out over bullshit. Linda Tripp probably never had a drink or had quit for 20 years. Dinker: "A little fun won't hurt you...explore!" Non_drinker: "Curiosity killed the cat" Bottom-line: Many people don't trust others who don't do or admit to anything "bad". Who do you want to promote into the office right next to your's?... the guy who parties with you and you've seen him let negative shit slide at the bar and he kept his mouth shut about some chick you fucked.... or the prude who jots down every single bullshit incident and reports it to you. |
