How does MySpace marketing work?

See title.

Can anybody give me a hint/link/tutorial/whatever?

Never cared about MySpace because I prefer friends in real life.
I always thought MySpace consist of pink sites of 14yo girls. Or pink sites of 40 yo guys acting as 14 yo girls.

But somehow I have the feeling that I might be wrong. Please enlighten me!

rigrunner 09-12-2006 01:52 PM

well there are a lot of pornstars already on there with a good number of friends, so add them and leave them a comment. put a link to your myspace from your site so your own surfers can add you.
check out the groups and post relevant messages - if you just spam porn or msg people about porn you'll end up getting banned.
finally leave relevant interesting comments, few people want a massive advert posted on their page.
the myspace searches can be useful too :)

I'm new on Myspace myself, just getting to grips with it - from the looks of things you can spend hours on there promoting yourself if you have the time (or a monkey who'll do it for ya!)

also... consider making a $30.00 purchase and get a "Friend Adder" -- it makes compiling a massive list of friends very simple...

consider this... a friends adder can get you upwards of 500,000 new myspace friends in less than a month...

If you were to post a bulletin, it would be exactly like 500,000 people seeing your banner.

it's effective if you make sure you use 21 and older men (unless you own a gay/lesbian/soloboy site)

If you have to ask, you already missed the boat

you can only send out 400 friend requests a day so how do you figure that you can get half a million friends in 30 days? lol...

:thumbsup yep!

and if you send out more than 250-350 requests per day it will be regarded as spam

I like to promote my webcam site and generate traffic at myspace. Can you give me examples of pornstars already there and some of the promotion work you have done there.

lol, it's not brain surgery...

elijahfade 09-14-2006 11:54 AM

No is not brain surgery. But I don't want to make a mistake and get banned!

squishypimp 09-14-2006 09:21 PM

create a page and put links on it

rigrunner 09-15-2006 02:26 AM

just make sure any links go to a warning page, you don't accept any under 18s on your account and you don't post hardcore pics in your profile..that why myspace wont get pissed.

I second the notion

After reading another thread about "Myspace" at a different board, I figured i'd just copy and paste some stuff for the resposible wannabe's out there.

I would have just posted a link to the forum but GFY has a strict policy on doing that. Wouldn't want to violate any policies now, would i.

That comment was just an interlude as to why any responsible adult webmaster would not even consider using Myspace as a means to get traffic. Just read the quotes below and read the freaking TOS at Myspace.

Quote:

A few myspace facts ripped form the News headlines:

MySpace has the highest underage user base of any site on the internet!
There are more 12 to 15 year olds posing as adults then there are real 18 to 21 year olds!
MySpace is the Number one Government and Law Enforcement Searched site on the internet.
MySpace clearly states in their Terms and Conditions
#8. Content/Activity Prohibited
MySpace.com reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who, in MySpace.com's sole discretion, violates this provision

#8/4. contains nudity, violence, or offensive subject matter or contains a link to an adult website;
Quote:

"#8/4. contains nudity, violence, or offensive subject matter or contains a link to an adult website;"

Pretty easy to get around that rule though.
Quote:

True, it's easy to get around any rule. If your willing to try.

Webmasters sit and bitch about haveing to list their personal info for 2257 COR, but will go and throw up adult content on myspace with big old Links right back to their websites.
Which in whois gives their full imfomation anyway..

Myself, I'ed rather stay away from places I know are being used by underage users and searched by the Law.

So, I just tell WM to stay the fu#k away.
Quote:

Bend or brake the rules Only if you are willing to pay the cost...

My wife as told me she has 4th and 5th graders talking about their myspace sites...
Quote:

With the present climate any promotion of adult content in an area of the net primarily used by under 18s is asking for trouble.

It's pretty much a disaster waiting to happen.
Quote:

Other then it is clearly prohibited as definded within My Space's TERMS.
http://www.myspace.com/Modules/Comm...Conditions.aspx

The frigging Goverrment and Law enfocement crawl thru there

It is owned by FOX and The ties with google.
Google is paying them 900 million dollars.
http://www.google.com/press/pressrel/ir_20060807.html

The law suits that have already happened.

And the FACT it is mainly used by UNDERAGE CHILDREN...

Not one damn thing wrong with doing it, I GUESS...

But don't give the old "Everyone else Does it" so why shouldn't I...

Bottom line
It's your life
It's your choice

I quit being part of the Sheep Herd long ago. When I found out that the sheep herder just wanted to shave my ass then eat me.
Quote:

I'll put this in another way..
If it were just one of the stupid ass U.S. Laws trying to tie U.S. adult webmasters hands.
I would have shut up and never even jumped in this thread.
But it is a Web Site we are talking about. And a web site that was built for the whole Family. All age groups, 14 and up.
It is also a Web Site same as you all have and I have.
Many of my sites have open free programs too. Gallery submitting, link trading and blog hosting.
These sites have Rules Too.
I didn't create those Rules for some self centered webmaster to bend or brake them.
It piss's me off when they do.
It also helps me understand the resentments so many have against the adult industry.
Every time an Adult Webmaster uses a Web site that was intended for Family oriented content, it helps gain support for those that fight for stricter laws on the adult industry.

By using such sites you are confirming to the rest of the world. That those in the adult industry don't care about underage children, their Parents and the Rules that those Web Sites have in place to help protect them.

I would rather be poor and living on the street. Then have to resort to violating a Child's Rights and a Web Site's Rules in order to make a quick buck.
Quote:

It's simple. MySpace was not created for pornographers and they have a very clear TOS to keep adult content out.

If you want to use a site like MySpace to promote porn, use http://www.hahahahahaha.com and if you want an adult alternative to YouTube, use http://www.pornotube.com.

We need to stop trying to use every mainstream site that comes along to promote our porn sites when they clearly don't want us and have rules excluding us.

And then webmasters wonder why we have so many problems.
Quote:

This last argument has nothing to do with the first, but now you're saying that if other people do it, you should be able to do it too and even though it's clearly against their TOS, since other people are doing it you think you should be able to, too. So, you're looking for validation and other webmasters to tell you that they have MySpace pages with links to adult sites and have never had a problem and then you'll run out and do it too. Then, you'll be the unlucky one that someone complains to MySpace about and have your site yanked.

They clearly don't want adult content or links to adult content because so many young people use MySpace but as usual, as a rule, pornographers have no scruples or morals so they say fuck it, and do it anyway.

And then people in this business wonder why we get a bad rap.

dont buy a 'freindadder' when you can download a free perl script and run it as a cron job

vegasgirl702 10-10-2006 07:02 PM

Read Tos

If u really want to know what the rules are, why dont u read the terms of service on myspace itself, rather then coming here for opinions??
I myself have a love hate relationship with myspace. Although it can be a great way to advertise, I feel that because it is a free site, It may be difficult finding people who want to pay for membership on another site. It all depends on who u add and when u add them the messages u leave posts u make, and making them not "look like spam" nothings a bigger turn off for me. lol

ta2edwhitetrash 10-11-2006 08:07 AM

I would like to be there when the feds come a knocking.

Picture it....

Some 14 year old with a Myspace page posing as a 23 year old...

Dad catches 14 year old wanking one off to your site...

Dad asks 14 year old, "Where the fuck did you get that site from?"

14 year old says, "Myspace"

Dad investigates...

Dad notifies Myspace that there is adult content on Myspace and is suing...

Myspace, in an effort to save its ass, files suit against adult webmaster who listed the porn in violation of Myspace TOS...

Adult webmaster who used Myspace 4 free marketing gets a knock at the door...

Feds are standing there with a warrent...

Adult webmaster's jaw drops to the floor...

Adult webmaster thinks to self, "what did i read on that forum about the latest law that can put me in federal prison"

Adult webmaster's ass puckers up real tight....

To dirtyprofits... the limit is 500 a day... per account. It's easy to market an add-friend link from multiple accounts.

to scottybuzz: you got your free GFY shirt... why are you still here? its not my fault your a cuckold...

badder adder (thought it sucks) allows multiple account logins and will send out friend requests until you say stop (best to stop at 560 because there may be a few that dont end up added because they cancel their account but are still listen in the system). once your main myspace account has reached its maximum, all you have to do is get the code for the "Add XXXXX as a Friend" button, and send it out in a message... I usually send them out with "Friend Request." as the subject

those extra accounts may get flagged for spam because youre sending so many messages... but that shouldn't affect your main account. it's never caused harm to any of the accounts i market.

plain and simple... 500,000 in 30 days is not only possible, i'll call it simple. you just need to be consistant.

just start with your myspace page... make it look like a really cute girls page (dont choose your myspace URL yet) and start adding friends... once you reach a couple thousand... go ahead and set your URL and change your page to what you actually want it to look like, then keep adding.

myspace works and converts good for free shit, like gift cards... also works good for promoting new CD releases on your favorite music-selling service. theres alot of things... its really up to the demographic you choose to add as friends....

if you have any questions, or need help- ICQ: 5527-4943
