Ok played it again in IE to get the exact error msg

"To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Macromedia Flash Player. To download the Macromedia Flash Player, go to the Macromedia Web site."

So looks like it's flash as you mentioned already.

wmp version 10

While your'e there - have you got any urls for hotlink protection? I'm having problems with a particular site and my current .htaccess isn't doing diddly squat....

which returns

well the post above yours gives a bit of a hint..

its basically a htaccess trick that changes you to php that then creates a playlist in windows mediaplayer ( .wpl ) that is then embedded into an asx file. in the wpl file is the video and an embedded flash object that creates the popup

Oracle Porn 09-12-2006 12:27 AM

very nice :)

Why 09-12-2006 02:14 AM

it worked on me. then i picked it all apart. neat shit man.

in my FF 1.5.0.6 it shelled the window in a new tab. so didnt properly break the firefox popup blocker. but that is how all popups work on my browser for whatever reason.

this is the one part i still dont get... c:\d.gif

$5 submissions 09-12-2006 02:18 AM

studiocritic 09-12-2006 02:46 AM

Well, preventing it is no problem, but it would be cool to have a script that redirects any site that try to hotlink :winkwink:

There used to be a bug in IE that would allow you to mix JS into the image source and have it executed from an <img> tag, but it's long gone. Can't really see how it can be done today?

thanks - didn't see the post above :)

as for the .htaccess, if you have any advice on how to get rid ofa hotlinker using js

here's code below - my htaccess doesn't block this guy forsome reason, if you have a second i'd appreciate any help as this site is draining a fair bit of bw...
Code:

<script>
id='123456';
entitle='Some title forgallery';
cid='<a href=\"/cat/masturbation.html\">???????????</a>';
date='3 ??????? 2006';
imgs=['all my images urls here'];
show();
</script>

TheSenator 09-12-2006 07:35 AM

BlackCrayon 09-12-2006 07:44 AM

well because image hotlinking is only done through the img tag i dont think theres any way to do that .. but you can modify your pics depending on who is accessing them ( i.e. watermark the pics with a giant logo if they are hotlinked )
