2257 Question...

Yeah, I know...GFY has went weeks without a 2257 thread, and most everyone is probably happy about that. With that being said, I guess I'm still holding on to hope and still looking for some answers. Here's my story...

I got scared and sold everything (adult sites/domains) that I owned when the new 2257 revisions hit at the end of July. Now it's a month and a half later...and I really miss running my sites. Yeah, I know...pretty lame. But to be honest, I have no life, and running the blogs gave me something to do, was pretty fun, and made me a little cash on the side.

So I've sat here for the past couple of hours trying to figure out how I could restart something (blog preferably) and be 100% 2257 compliant. I haven't came up with much unfortunately. Right now, I'm leaning towards starting a blog writing service where I write for other people who don't have time/don't know how/just don't want to fuck with writing their own entries. Now keep in mind...and if anyone remembers the sites I ran...when I speak of writing blog entries I don't mean post a pic with a caption and a link...I write fucking huge blog posts. My problem with doing that for other people is that I have no clue what to charge for something like that. I know others do it...but they just do the pic/caption/link thing...and sorry folks...that's not blogging.

My other option is to start a blog with no photos. Just text (again, a couple long paragraphs) about the girl/set/video whatever and then a link. Only problem with that...I can't see anyone coming to a site like that. I know I probably wouldn't. Yeah, it would be great for SEO...but would the average surfer be into it...or would they just realize there is no pics and click on to the next site?

If you've read this far, I salute you. I'm drunk and rambling...so I'll get to my point...

Can anyone here give me a definitive answer on how I can restart a blog and run it so it will be fun and profitable all while abiding by the 2257 laws? If not, can anyone suggest something in adult that I can do that I wouldn't have to deal with the 2257 side of the business? Hell...has anyone got any openings for a writer, affiliate rep, photographer, anything? I'm a jack of all trades (unfortunately, a master of few :(). Also feel free to give me feedback on my two ideas above.

Thanks in advance for your time and any advice you give me!

Thanks. I was thinking of that too, but someone (on here) said that even NN pics weren't safe, if they led to nude pics.

Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Text tgp's with fhgs is always an option. I am from europe, so i am not sure about the rules regarding 2257 on blogs. And as said above, non nude pics can be sexy too!

But everybody is running a fucking blog and tgp, so I cant see why you shouldnt!

Now go and buy some domains and get back in biz! Do you do any design btw? (SlamDESIGNS)

Good luck! :)

What he said. :thumbsup

I can provide plenty of non-nude pics and videos that are still entertaining.

Yeah, I checked your site out the other day. I like the concept, but would prefer to go with something that is recurring.

Switch to text links - you'll get more SE traffic and 2257 seems to be (at least currently) targeting graphic sexuality.

scottybuzz 09-11-2006 05:40 AM

goodluck dude, unlucky about selling your sites, what a bummer!

Jaii 09-11-2006 05:45 AM

move away to Australia or Canada and then run any kind of website you like,

You do not need to use the types of content that requires 2257 compliance to make sales, blog wise, tgp wise, free site wise, or any other way.

Just do what you were doing but only use exempt content where you need content at. Besides the more text the better either way.

Thanks (to everyone) for the advice. My question on that is, what actually is exempt from 2257? I know when the law was revised, people were saying that non-nude wasn't even safe if it led to a page (FHG) that had nudity. I'm a really paranoid person, and I just want to make sure that I'm safe.

To be totally honest...the thought has crossed my mind. I'm actually not too far from Canada as it is. All my friends and family are here though, and I really couldn't afford the expense to move right now.

Jaii 09-12-2006 06:46 AM

ahhhh canada :)
