I email my son
I have a blog to my son. Sometimes I don't see him as much as I'd like so I also send him emails. He's in first grade. Here's what I just sent to him:
Daddy hasn't been able to visit you too much lately since school's started, but that doesn't mean I don't think about you every single day. If I'm having a tough day all I have to do is think of my C---- and a big smile comes to my face. You're my best buddy! I sure hope you're liking school! 1st grade is SO BIG! You're growing way too fast. I'm sure you already know this, but your mommy and I talk about you to each other all the time. So even when I don't get to see you I'm always thinking of you and asking about you. You're the most important person in the world to your daddy! Have a nice day, my son. I sure do love you! Love, Daddy! He's my world! |
I never want him to have any doubt how much I love him...
|
thats touching; you're a good man
|

His boy knows he is loved very much. Lucky kid. Many of us grow up always wondering if there father/mother really loved them. Especially if we grew up without one of them in our life as much.
|
Donny, I have mass amounts of respect for you. That's really cool that you e-mail him stuff like that all the time.
|
so sweet Donny
|
That's very sweet Donny, really it is!
As a dad I TOTALLY get how you feel :) 2 things though: 1 - why does a 6 yr old have or need access to a computer and emeil? 2 - why do you feel the need to share this very personal thing with GFY? Seriously, not attempting to burt your bubble or shit on you at all ... just wondering? :2 cents: |

Why can't you see him more?
|
Donny, where are you why you can't see him?

1. He doesn't have access to email. His mom prints out the email for him. He does get on the computer to type a reply or to play educational games. There are tons of great educational games available for children, especially on the Mac. 2. Good question. GFY is full of so much negative, it's nice to have something positive posted once in awhile. Some people post photographs of their children on this board. I won't do that. My son's name wasn't mentioned in my post, so I see no harm there. I had just sent that email and my chest was still about to explode from all the love I felt toward my son while writing that email. I was compelled to share. :) |

Who the hell cares if his son is on the computer? Or what method he gets word to him he loves him? He is getting that message thru and this is afterall, 2006, emails is the norm these days!! His son knows he loves him and I am sure doesn't give flip about HOW he is told, as long as he is told. I tell my kids I love them about 500 times a day and they tell me..... BUT we are in the same house, that makes a huge difference.. if you can't be there with them, then use any and all methods you can use to get word to them and keep in their heads that no matter what, you love them.
FURTHERMORE, who cares if he is raising a gay son, YOU might be raising a gay son too for all you know, Mr Deputy Chief. We ALL might be for all we know. And who the hell cares? If he is loved and he is shown love, nothing else matters.. NOTHING!!! There are worse things he, or any child can be. And yes I can say this, I have boys 17 and 13, and two girls ages 8 and 22, and if they came and told me they were gay..... SO WHAT!! I wouldn't care, they are my kids and my love is unconditional as I am sure Donny's is. That comment was out of line, even for GFY! And my kids all have access to the internet, and so you know? They get access to the net and computers in school as young as kindergarten now!! So you keep them offline at home, that's fine, they get access at school.... lmao My kids know more about online and computers than most adults do.... if you love them, let them have the tools they need, but TEACH them how to use them and it won't matter what their ages are, as long as they learn how to use and interact with things they are around. Sorry to say, but the internet and computers ARE their futures, start teaching them now how to use them and they won't be so damn lost when they get older. I see that a lot where I live. The net isn't JUST porn! |
kewl........

yeah, exactly.... |
I once said that people in this business could be complete assholes, but have the biggest hearts! Donny, its really great to see parents that love their childern as much as you. I have 2 girls 2, and 5, and I am very blessed that I get to see them everyday, and have a good working relationship with their mother. You are alright in my book bro!
I know we all like to have a good time, and there is a lot of shit posted to the boards all the time, drama and so on. It is refreshing to see a little bit of love on here from time to time. JoeW |

They have MSN to talk to their school friends and their older sister and friends from out of town that we know, BUT they know that if anyone they do not know starts paging them, they are to call me immediately and I go and handle it then and there. The thing is here, I believe in teaching my kids of the dangers in their world as opposed to letting them go and find out the hard way and potentially only after it is too late to turn back. If you ask my 8 yr old about online predators, she will be able to tell you about them as is appropriate to HER age..... my 13 yr old can tell you in a little more detail and my 17 yr old in a little more detail. They know what they need to know to protect themselves as is appropriate to their ages and in a way they understand the dangers involved! I am a mom that wants my kids PREPARED for their world as they leave my home because I can't always protect them, I want them to KNOW where the danger are and how to deal with and handle them, not to panic and get themselves into trouble when some sick fuck says to them "Everyone is doing it, you can trust me"...... you say those words to MY kids and you are likely to meet MY wrath when they call me to come and handle that. I will note here though, they are not allowed in any chat rooms, they are ONLY allowed to use MSN and it is blocked from anyone outside their own little loop. They are allowed this usage because we do have out of town friends and family that don't live with us and they are allowed to use it to talk to them. Is this popular? NOPE! And I know this, BUT, will YOUR kids know what to do when they get older and some sick fuck gets into THEIR heads? Likely not, prepare them and they will be fine. |

Oh, and cell phones? NO WAY!!!!!! My oldest son has one, it came with his car and driver's license.. and I make him keep it on him at ALL times so he can reach me if he has trouble and I can reach him if I have trouble. BUT he only got it when he started going out on his own and driving and such. I want to know if he has an accident, he has a means to reach some help...... but no way should ANY child under the driving age have a cell phone, that's a bit much even for me.

who the fuck cares about your letter?

And who are you to judge that he is wrong and you are right simply because he did something you'll never do? That doesn't make him wrong, just different. Taste a little piss in our cornflakes, pal? Maybe you should go do something nice for your son instead of dissing someone else for pouring oru their love to theirs. If you don't like the shit, don't read it. |

and as for the cellphones, one of my relatives got his daughter of 11 years old a cell phone, i can't believe it. i don't see why she has one. she also has her own laptop. spoiled kids.. |
11 yr olds with cell phones is just asking for trouble.. hell I don't even let my kids stay on my landline for over a 1/2 hour or so at a time.... there is no need for it.
This is just a little of what my 8 yr old does online, so you know.. she plays on barbie.com a LOT, watches trailers and movies of her favorite Disney shows on Disney.com, she has some age specific puzzles and games she plays online, and sometimes she and I will go on MSN and play online checkers or something of that nature. SHE doesn't have access to email.... under NO circumstances. That is left for my 13 and 17 yr olds, but she doesn't have that access. I don't mean to give the impression that my kids just have free run at the internet, they don't by ANY means... but I won't deprive them of the educational and fun sides of it because there are dangers to it. There are equally as many, if not more dangers these days just walking out your front door and I don't lock them in their rooms or in the house. |

He also has his own laptop, with the usage highly monitored by me. It's not like I'm going to let him use my computer. Even with monitored use. There is stuff on here he just doesn't need to see. |

This is EXACTLY why my kids have their own computers. no way in hell are they even allowed anywhere near mine. That's about the dumbest thing anyone in the adult industry can do is let their kids use the computer you work with to be on. :thumbsup |

I take that stance here: the title clearly indicates the contents of this thread. If you don't like it, don't read it. And definitely don't waste your precious time responding. :321GFY |
