So here we go let's see how I do for this season feel free to keep track of me if you're unsure to take my picks or not.

Week 1

Take Denver at -3.5 over St Louis

Chicago at -3.5 over Green Bay

San Fran vs Arizona you can take the over at 42.5

Assuming you are seriously asking...

"Take Denver at -3.5 over St Louis"

Means that in order for him to win his wager, Denver must beat St. Lous by more than 3.5 points. If Denver wins by 3, he won't cover.

"San Fran vs Arizona you can take the over at 42.5"

Means that you can bet that the combined score of that game will be higher than 42.5 points.

Thank you very much. :)

I've worked for a book, so that helps with my understanding a little. :winkwink:

Sweet, I used to run some bets myself for a couple years.

KMR Stitch 09-09-2006 10:16 PM

Ok, I understand it's just like betting sites they always have someone to win?

Say Greenbay vs TampaBay They have greenbay +3.5

So that means they must win by 3.5? If not you lose the bet?

No.

It means that GB gets 3.5 gimme points.

Say in that game that the final score is TB 21 GB 20.

The books give GB 3.5 points. Which means that in the above scenario, anyone who bet for TB loses.

edit: now that I re-read your post, I'm not sure who you mean when you say "they must win"

If its straight up I would take Indy but I think it might be a close one by 3 or 4 points.

Being a non-Colts fan living in Indiana, I am pullin' for the little brother. Except, as the munchkin pointed out earlier, a Giants win is bad for Cowboys fans.

It should be a good game, no matter what. Not one I'd want to put cash on, I don't think.

Yeah it should be a good game for sure, I think I'm only going to watch the games that they show in HD on the directv package just to check it out. I already picked up some pizzas and drinks and I'm ready to watch it on my projector and just be happy that they're playing games again. I'm a Raiders fan anyway and always will be!

Is my memory failing, or did I just hear that you all picked up Jeff George? Christ, he's a wanker.

We only have cable, and I called last week to see if they had any kind of nfl package so we could watch who we want, but it was no dice.

I'll miss the afternoon games, as the munchkin has a game tomorrow himself. Like you, I'm just glad it is that time of year again. :)

Sheesh, I should be watching from your house then. We are Cowboys deprived in my part of the world.

Not at all saying you are wrong, but when I punch him up in google, he's showing a raiders helmet on nfl.com Isn't the Raiders owner named Al Davis or something like that? That name was in the story I heard too.

i haven't caught up on my raiders info in the past few days but if he's back on the raiders again then i'll be real unhappy. i heard the talk of him coming to backup someone in the league i just didnt pay attention figuring they would never be dumb enough to take him back again.

aztecboi2003 09-09-2006 10:46 PM

The raiders already cut Jeff George

I can't remember where I heard the story...it was something I was half ass listening to, but his name caught my attention.

Being from Indiana, I have heard tons of Bob & Tom skits about him.

Hell of an arm. Terrible attitude.

I'm off to bed. Good talkin' with you a little. :)

yeah he was never really going to be part of the team but he got cut after just a couple days it looks like. i didnt pay much attention to it, was so fast i must have missed it too. good talking to you, icq me sometime.

The lock of the week to me is SD over Oak, the spread varies but anything up to -6 or so is a lock for the Chargers. Who cares if it's a rookie QB? Oakland is horrid.

Also look at Ten -3 NYJ
Tenn is far from great, but the Jets may be worse than SF and NO.

CIN should also cover and win outright at KC (forget the Chief's impressive opening day record, thats the kind of stat that means nothing)

Look for DAL +2.5 to win outright at JAK too, Jak got their late season Ws vs. bad teams and DAL will have momentum with T.O. in the lineup and Bill looking to make this the year of the 'Boys.

MIN +5.5 @ Was. Was is not very good and won't score much, even against the Vikings. Was may win, but a FG at best.

CHI is a good bet as GB ... well, now that I think about it, they may just be the worst team in football. Only problem is CHI doesn't score much, which means if GB can manage 10 pts, they may cover.

Note: These predictions should not be used as advice for making any cash wagers.

:thumbsup

I always figured that The bookie always picked who was selected to win that game. But how many leway points.

GB vs TB that the spread of +3.5 ment 7 points total.. Because Ive never heard of 1/2 a point in football

Digipimp 09-10-2006 04:10 PM

double goodness

Sosa 09-10-2006 04:21 PM

I had the broncos also and lost with them. I really thought they would cover against the rams

CDSmith 09-10-2006 04:54 PM

A few of these picks were right on the money, but a few of you guys really owned yourselves. :D

Jacksonville pulled off the win over Dallas..... and in all three pools I'm in I had Jac.

Denver-- choke

Seattle-- owned.

And how about that beautiful win on the pointspread my 49'ers came through with? I LOVE THE NINERSSSSSSSS!!!!

Now I just need Indy-Wash-SD to win their games and I am sitting pretty. MIght even net me some prizes.

DavieVegas 09-10-2006 05:22 PM
