I was about to say "Smashing Pumpkins haven't been around in forever" but then I saw "6-30-00" on the video description, lol.

Huskie 09-08-2006 11:52 PM

not bad, would be cool if they pulled a greenday and came back..

LiveDose 09-08-2006 11:55 PM

The Smashing Pumpkins always put on a great live show. They never play the same arrangements as on their albums, plus throw in some rare gems each time.

The best show I saw them play was at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in Golden Gate Park (San Francisco) back in 1996.

The line-up for the show:

The Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Chaksam-pa, Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, Pavement, Cibo Matto, Biz Markie, Richie Havens, John Lee Hooker, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Sonic Youth, Beck, Björk, De La Soul, Fugees, Buddy Guy, The Skatalites, Yoko Ono/Ima

The Smashing Pumpkins did an afternoon set that was totally psychedelic. They only played a handful of songs, but each one was extended with jams featuring other songs interweaved. I would love to have a bootleg of that show...

Here is the set list (6/15/96):

* Bullet with Butterfly Wings
* Zero
* Tonight, Tonight
* Fuck You
* Silverfuck

I loved smashing pumpkins back when I was in High School!

Matt 26z 09-09-2006 01:48 AM

They were one of the biggest bands of the 90's, and I can see them rocking on twenty years from now like the Rolling Stones keep on doing.

Mikey_219Inc 09-09-2006 02:06 AM

i saw them the night after cobain blew off his noggin ... was a great show finished with an a capella rendition of sweet sweet :thumbsup

that was siamese dream tour - after that the shows got weaker to me to much fucking around not enough fucking rock and roll, although i like the mellon collie albums very much.

ive worn several siamese dream and gish cds down to nubs. mellon collie cds are on their last limbs. if it werent for mp3 they would have died long ago.

That performance on the vid was awesome, wish I was there front row... It gets too good from 4:00 till the end of the vid.

To this day, I listen to siamese dream at least one time per week, that album is simply perfect, there is no flaws, each track is in my opinion, just perfect. As for their other albums, I am not a huge fan, for me it is siamese dream that has been blasting out of my speakers for many years, an album that intense and moody sits alongside such greats like the god machine "scenes from the second story , tool's enima , lush's "gala , the cure's kiss me kiss me kiss me and joy division's substance cd. All undying greats!

Siamese Dream is probably one of the most influential albums in rock music history. and i must have listened hundreds of times to it

sickkittens 09-09-2006 11:21 AM

I was never huge into them but more recently I've gotten into some of their stuff. Not crazy about his voice live, though.
