WebairGerard 09-08-2006 11:10 AM

great guitars! good luck with the fix. a good luthier should make her sing again no problem.

hezochiah 09-08-2006 11:11 AM

Damn dude, sorry to hear that. I know I would be totally bummed if that happened to my LP Standard, but it does look like it was a clean break which should make for a solid fix.

Also, check out the Gibson Forums at http://www.gibson.com/relations/foru...n=topics&fid=3 because I know there are some UK guys on there and they may be able to point you to a good place to get it fixed...

No, I'm in LA ....but I used to have a Epiphone endorsment. I would argue that it's a design flaw, or bad neck from the factory and tell them in fell softly on a carpeted floor. You might get a whole new neck for free:pimp

carol.prime 09-08-2006 12:05 PM

oh man... that's pretty hurting! That's a nice guitar :(

demented 09-08-2006 12:06 PM

Damn that sucks when that happens. It's actually a common problem with LP necks. Should be able to get it fixed though :) Good luck!

dissipate 09-08-2006 12:22 PM

I had the same thing happen to mine, it's fixable.

Drake 09-08-2006 12:42 PM

sickkittens 09-08-2006 12:43 PM

Bummer. And I thought it was bad when I put a chip in my bass drum.

Ace_luffy 09-08-2006 12:50 PM

Almost the same exact break as yours.

I feel ya man, it sucks. I remember standing in one spot staring at it not wanting to believe what I was looking at.

Good luck getting it fixed up

a1ka1ine 09-08-2006 01:16 PM

my friend says:

[21:14] : oops
[21:14] : looks bad but headstock breaks are easy to fix
[21:15] : tell him to take it to his local guitar shop, they can glue it and clamp it and it will be good as new for about £75
[21:16] : when it's fixed the glue sets harder than the wood it's fixed to, guitar techs fix crap like that all the time

doesnt sound so bad, i hope it plays the same!!

Lykos 09-08-2006 01:22 PM

dont beat ppl with guitar, use basseball bat:)

Try £200 ... and I've been advised that a simple glue job is not a good idea... Gibson repair shop use glue, AND then do some wierd thing that covers the whole area and more to give it strength and flexability.... So I'm waiting on a reply from them...
:(

madawgz 09-08-2006 01:32 PM

that sucks, i hope you get it fixed soon

Violetta 09-08-2006 01:33 PM

should be pretty easy to fix!

tranza 09-08-2006 01:42 PM

smack 09-08-2006 02:08 PM

ugh damn. i would be in tears.

i have abused alot of guitars over the years, thankfully i haven't had anything that bad happen yet.

hope you get it fixed man, a les paul is a terrible thing to waste.

Twisted Dave 09-08-2006 04:40 PM

It is ... and I wont waste it ... just gotta get it to the shop soon!

It's a 1989 model and it's simply beautiful!!!

:(

Vitasoy 09-08-2006 05:48 PM

Well that certainly sucks :(

czarina 09-08-2006 05:49 PM

I'm so sorry. It looked like a nice guitar too

Twisted Dave 09-08-2006 06:18 PM

I can get it fixed :) Just gonna cost me :(

Spunky 09-08-2006 06:24 PM

Well worth the investment to get it fixed

tony286 09-08-2006 06:50 PM

you figure its so common of a break on les pauls, gibson would of addressed the weakness.

Twisted Dave 09-08-2006 07:04 PM

It's probably a playing thing ... it's not just Gibson's that have this issue ... many other manufacturers have the same problem.

I just can't wait to get it fixed!

People ... come and order some toons so I can get my guitar fixed!!!

msan 09-08-2006 09:07 PM

Feel bad for ya. Hope it gets fixed.
