I Ordered a Hybrid ...

So I got a new car this past weekend, but I don't have it in my possession yet. I had to order the car because they are in huge demand, but Toyota doesn't make many of them.

I got a 2007 Camry Hybrid and as my one friend says, it's a mom car. But that's cool, I'm a MILF. ; )

But seriously, anyone else have a hybrid or Camry hybrid for that matter?

shake 09-06-2006 03:12 PM

Nope :) Can't say that I have. But good for you in choosing a car that will help with air polution.

MikesTraffic 09-06-2006 03:12 PM

what is the estimated gas mileage? i cant justify buying one quite yet, as i like going fast......but if they break 60+ mpg i think i might :)

Sly 09-06-2006 03:12 PM

Real MILFs drive mini-vans. You are officially downgraded.

Whatever. You'd hit it. Hehe ...

As for the mileage question ... the hybrid gets around 40 MPG (average of city and highway -- info from actual owners) whereas the normal Camry gets about 21 MGP (info from the sticker on the car).

I thought the typical american milf drives hummers or escalades. Your going the wrong way kristin! Gas guzzlers is the milf's desired car of choice!

hmm, I thought they do a bit better than 40mpg, 40mpg is far from great :-/

Are sure its 40 mpg?

Yeah, I was surprised it wasn't higher based on other models. The NON-hybrid Corolla gets 40+ MPG. But compared to the normal Camry it's doubled.

Gas is still pretty cheap. Historically speaking, it's just about the cheapest ever, when you figure in inflation, growth, etc. I'll stick with the guzzler. $60 to fill the tank won't break the bank.

Compared to other countries, yes gas is still cheap. However, it's not about the cost breaking the bank or not, it's just a preference of where I want to spend my money. Personally, I'd rather not give more money to the oil companies AND be environment friendly.

Yeah, I had a Corolla when I bought my first new car ... loved it, great gas mileage, but then I had kids. They don't fit as comfortably as I would like ...

bausch 09-07-2006 10:38 AM

I would only drive one if they had a mercedes or bmw version and actually looked like it, not weird shaped like the Prius. I like the car to look sleek and sexy, the Prius is none of those. It may save gas but it's not very attractive looking :(

#1 thing I look for in car is looks, and reliability/safety/performance, but looks is very important. I don't know why all the hybrids look like bathtubs.

the new honda and toyota hybrids look just like the regular version of the car..

you wont be seeing a german luxury hybrid anytime soon though i doubt.

I looked at the Prius the first time I ever bought a car but like you I'm about looks as well as performance. However, with the recent hybrid mimicking the "original" model they don't look so futuristic looking.

Lexus has their hybrid ... starts at $55k, and it's nice!

Understood. I'd just rather drive the BMW than some hybrid , if it's only to feel better about the environment and/or oil independence. You can buy polluter credits to offset your conscience.

Oh, I forgot to say: congrats. :winkwink:
