Anyone here ever gone to Bally's Fitness Club?
 

I'm moving into a new place in August and there's a Bally's 3 blocks away which would rock but I've heard they're the scum of the earth.

Was anyone here ever a member of one?

nice gym, nice equipment, but the contract is like signing your life away, you can only cancel if your so many miles away from one of the gym's and all this other bull shit, so thats one of th eonly flaws i found, other then that, pretty ok for a gym.

There are a lot of gay men at Ballys. Stay clear of the sauna.

3 days a week... Bally's is alright.. Nice girls, good equipment etc.. Down fall.. Lot's of homo's..

I have a premium membership at Bally's. Needless to say if you have seen me recently I have not been using it much :(

Good place to scope out hot chicks, but there is a lot of sausage in there.

DO NOT JOIN BALLYS! I was locked into a 3 yr contact and I coudn't get out. Like "wonder" said in the previous post, you can only cancel if you live out of a 25mile radius and/or if you have health problems. It cost me $1,000 for 3 yrs... I'm a member of a new guy and I pay on a mth-mth basis:thumbsup

I'd never sign a deal longer than 6 months - I've seen gyms go to shit REAL fast - doesn't take much

lol yep. Quite a few gay men. I was a member a few years ago, so I'm not sure if their contract haved changed or not. I think it was like a one or two years deal. And if you decide to drop it, you need to give them a good reasons. They'll stick to you like glue.

I went to Ballys once thinking I might need to "shape up" I walked in with 2 goth girls and another all black-wearing dredded hair guy like myself, wearing black jeans and nice thick leather jackets to our knees, definitely out of place, but our girls wanted to see the aerobics classes or other aerobic workout classes.

During their attempt to show us around the establishment, I noticed the men, many of them, first a group of them running on the big oval running track that circles the buildings on the second floor... the trucked by giggling like schoolgirls except they looked more like Al Borland, yep, bears, a pack of them... all "getting in shape?" I doubt it, this was a meeting place, a common ground, a sociably acceptable club where these freaks could meet and browse.

After the swarms of bears... she insisted to show us the shower area etc... I told her "nah, no need we wont be showering here," not to mention we were dressed in full gear, all black lots of leather, chain wallets black hair dye the full works... but of course, the girls we were with pushed on, aventurous and quite loaded as well as curious and defying.

We reached the showers and changing area and sauna, I never felt so sexually harrassed in my life, these guys were basically barking like prisoners in a jail halls when a new "girl hits the block"...

They were like slithering man-whores in this smoky room much like the visions one has when reading the Casino entry to Thompson's Fear And Loathing. I swear I thought for one minute one of them was going to pop me with a towel, I looked like I just got off tour and these guys were standing around cackling like homo hyemas with their towels barely hanging on their hairy bear hips and Johnsons swinging, mind you this is near the North Hollywood spa, so no doubt its damn near a male brothel more than it is a gym.

Needless to say, I walked out within minutes with my blach clad crew and we went to Club Perversion and drank Heinekens over good herbs and Electronic Industrial Mixes and Different rooms with different grooves. I believe that was the night I met Cevin Key from Skinny puppy, Actually I take it back, because that was a Skinny Puppy release party I believe the day after, not sure, I would have to dig up my passes. It would co inside with "The Process" release date,... I hate not knowing time frames, usually I judge it by cd release or gigs, time lost its meaning years ago... but the herbs have taken a toll I suppose, although my memory is fairly accurate.

Personally I think if theres a next terrorist attack on the US they should target those places.

i know on the east coast being over run by gay men is not the problem! In fact for me, ther was some pleasant eye candy there!I was a member for about 8 years ..got lazy and didnt renew..(ok so i only went off and on) But there agreement is very clear and hard to get out of...they want your money and lock you in once they have it! Check around...money wise you will find another deal with just as good equipment just not the name!

I've been a paying member for about 4 years... I haven't been in 3 1/2... It's really nice usually! Too bad the saunas and jacuzzis aren't coed here.

which one do you go to brad? i go to the novi one and the pool and sauna is coed. i only use it for lifting weights.

and as far as getting a membership there, i would not recommend it. pretty soon im going to be switching to this place called lifetime fitness which is 24 hours. i dont like ballys 3 year contracts, also check out the bathrooms. they are dirty as fuck, you gotta pretty much plug your nose to piss in there cause it smells so bad.

Went to one in Virginia before on one of those free 2 week pass things. I'd never pay for a membership. I can get in better shape at home and save money...

mY experience at Ballys was a quite HEALTHfull experience.
played coed volleyball every m,w,f, night at Balleys in Ft. Lauderdale.
Seen this black chick and said to my self if i ever went there she would be the one!
ended up fucking those volcano titties to the wee hours

24 Hour Sport is the best, no long contracts, but they'll push the personal trainers, i bit, got me a trainer for a few months, once I learned all the excercises myself, I canned his ass....


but im assuming there isnt a 24hourfitness around your part? you should check, they are everywhere

Ballyssucks.com used to be quite a busy domain. Lots of upset people posting their stories there.

I'm not aware of 3 year contracts being standard... my recollection is that you can go into it open-ended if you want.

Beemk - I don't know you...!! Since you're local we should grab lunch, golf or a drink some time! I have the membership which allows me to go to any of the ballys but the main one I would visit would be in Troy. However, I live in Berkley and Novi is a quick drive from here so we should chat!

its a good deal.. after a few years of 30 a month.. you can pay 10 a month

i'm a member there and its a very good gym, equipment wise. whether you wanna scope out the hot chicks or the fat balding guys is your own choice. working out wise its VERY good. the trainers are a bit weird but overall i went from skinny to semi-built in 8 weeks. true the only bad thing is their contract, but once thats over you get it for like $15/mo forever if you want to stay, and there are no contracts. its worth the cash if youre serious about putting the effort in, cause if you arent, then fuck signing up to anything at all and just continue saying "im gonna do it tomorrow" shit.

LA Fitness or Golds Gym and get them on a monthly basis if thy say no or give you some bullshit... just say i am looking for a month to month, i would to signup here if ya got it we will sign up if not i will gosomewhere else, do u want my money or not? (then watch the salesman squirm)

I signed up for Bally years ago because I was travelling so much before. I liked being able to into any Bally's in the US and work out. Now that I don't travel so much, I guess I would recommend signing up on a monthly basis at the place closest to you that has hot women and a low gay-to-straight ratio.
