Autogallery SQL

So, I'm about to purchse it. Are there any specific reasons why I shouldn't?

If you aren't taking submissions... buy TGP Rotator instead

I concur. TGP Rotator rocks my socks.

What if I'd like to take submissions in the future? Doesn't AG have the same single-webmaster functionality as TGP Rotator?

Michael O 09-05-2006 01:27 PM

TGPRotator allows you to run multiple sites on the same server with one copy of the script.
You add your galleries and you can run multiple sites multicategory or niche sites using the same database of galleries, there is no option to accept submissions.

With AGSQL you can only run the script on the domain you bought it for but you are able to accept galleries.
Both scripts have the features needed to run a TGP.

TGP rotator hands down.. no need to take submissions if you're new you will likely never build a big enough site right away to beable to charge for submits, so no use taking them IMO.

Gillespie 09-05-2006 01:35 PM

Keyser, thanks again for your help. I'd really wish to see you in another company though, but that's another topic ;)

Anyway, I thought the licence for AGSQL allowed several scripts in one server. If this is not the case, then I guesss TGP Rotator is the way to go.

Is there an addon for thumb cropping using Linux boxes?

They both come with a "built-in" cropper. There is an add on desktop Windows app available (requires the .NET framework) - it has a few more options and makes better looking thumbs, but isn't required for cropping.

The add on is essentially a brower / cropping utility that runs on your PC and it ties in w/ script.

Gillespie 09-05-2006 02:10 PM

Ok, then locally it requires Win, but the server can be a Linux box. Right?

Klen 09-05-2006 02:11 PM

TGP rotator is much better script with much more options.

or FreeBSD ;) but yes

Gillespie 09-05-2006 02:33 PM

FreeBSD and I are incompatible. =(

Another 'vote' for TGP Rotator. Great script, tons of features, very stable, and the fact that you can add perl code to your templates gives you almost unlimited power (the kind the president of Iran is after :) )

Gillespie 09-05-2006 03:41 PM

If I only knew Perl. Or Java. Or Python. Or whatever...

Gillespie 09-05-2006 07:18 PM

Bought.

Installing...

I agree. Best choice for a TGP that takes submissions. And I also agree that TGP Rotator(from the same company) is the best if you want to setup a fake TGP using your personal or sponsor galleries. Screening daily submits can be time consuming.

Heh, just click on my Sig to take you directly to the TGP Rotator page........ :winkwink:
