GFY docs... imside please... Ibuprofen question... Im in pain... Help...
 

Had a tooth pulled 24 hours ago and it broke apart and they had to go digging for the root. Not a good time at the dentist but all they gave me was Ibuprofen for the pain.

24 hours later I still am in a TON of pain, and the 400mg 3x a day pills they gave me have turned into 800mg every 2 hours. I'm good for 2 hours then the pain comes quickly.

I know Ibuprofen can be bad for you and you can take too much. 3200mg max daily I think I read.

Any of you have any experience taking high dose amounts of Ibuprofen for just a few days?

Switch it up..... take something like aleave and IB or tylenol and advil.. IB can eat your stomach up. Take the IB but as soon as you start to fill a little bit of pain again take some tylenol or advil, also call your dentist and ask them to get you vicodin or something. OUCH

Get back over there and demand codeine!!!

Ibuprofen is going to make your stomach bleed if you take it in high doses (especially if you drink alcohol), and it isn't going to settle that kind of pain.

I forgot to add, I'm a big boy. 6'1 230lbs... so I can eat some meds before they make pain go away.

On the flip side, when I drink... just a few drinks and I'm tossed. Go figure.

you think IB will do damage if used high doses for 2 - 3 days?

fuck the ibuprofen that shit fucks your stomach up and makes it hurt for weeks after. get something else, fuck i took over the counter aleve or tylenols instead of that shit before.

Too much Ibupro. can hurt your liver. You're taking too much. At most you're only supposed to take 800 mg every 12 hours.

Go back and see if you can get some Darvon (not Davocet).

If you're having trouble sleeping because of the pain, take a dose of Nyquil (don't laugh) or Tylenol PM.

Probably not, but make sure you eat when you take it or drink some milk. My family loves to take IB for everything and so far they are ok.

Ibuprofen Vicodin codeine street drug Extacy MDMA works very well. You will build up a tolerance and the drug wont work like it did after awhile. Try switching it up with aspirin then go back to Ibuprofen. I would not worry about Ibuprofen fucking you up it's mostly long term usage.

I stopped shortly after it was coming as pills and crushed with shit.

Acetaminophen hurts your liver, not ibuprofen. Ibuprofen causes more stomach/intestinal/GI problems.


A lot of the prescription strength ibuprofen is 800 mgs a tab, so I don't think it will hurt you for a short period of time. You're in a third world country- can't you get pain meds pretty much anywhere?? Or heroin? :1orglaugh

If your going to keep taking the Ibuprofen take some Ranitadine as well - it will save your stomach.

Try a disolvable Aspirin - bite down on it over the area that hurts and let it disolve. It tastes like shit but will help a lot. Dont do this if its still bleeding though.

not to imply that you have Hep C

It's just when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, the docs told me not to take too much Ibupro. because it may damage the liver if you take too much regardless

ok this might sound silly but works.. they make this certain throat spray i think its by vicks.. it has the same shit in it that they use to freeze your gums in the dentists, its supposed to be for abad cough , but if you spray it in your mouth and swish it around like mouthwash it numbs your gums up pretty good. you can also continually smear on oragel , but you have to keep doing it over and over again , but all you really need to do is get 30mins of pain free mouth to get you to sleep then you will be fine.. as suggested abover take some nyquil ( add a shot of tequila and some codeine )

I'm sure there's lots of shit that can mess up your liver if you have Hepatitis C. Especially since Hepatitis is a disease of the liver.

Ibuprofen in general is not a threat to your liver. Acetaminophen is in large doses, especially if you mix it with alcohol.

Just mix all the OTC PKs up until you get Tylenol 3... Aspirin, Ibu, Nyquil (tylenol).... usually works heh. Take maximum dose recommended, but if it doesn't work obviously don't take anymore because more of it does nothing. With those OTCs it either works w/ the recommended dose or doesn't... opiates on the other hand... :winkwink:

Thats great stuff - I always have a bottle - anything thats even a little sore gets a spray.

Its great for those little burns you get when you cook a lot.

Its also the same stuff you spray on your knob to make you last longer - I have heard.

I take 1600mg of Ibuprofen every morning and been doing it for 20 years.

Sometimes I'll take 800mg at night.

I slipped a disk years ago and I don't want to get hooked on anything stronger.

I'll go months with severe pain then months with no pain. It depends on
how much I sit or stand in one stretch. I slow cooked BBQ ribs for about 2 hours today and now I can hardly stand to take a piss but after I take the
Ibuprofen in the morning I'll be good most of the day.

The doc said I'm OK up to 3200mg per day as long as they are the coated
pills. The non coated pills will eat your stomach up but the coated ones won't.

I get full liver and other blood tests every 6 months and there's nothing wrong so far.

tell doct to prescribe you tylenol 3..

The best option is percocet but I doubt your dentist is going to give you that :)

Ibuprofen isn't always the best solution for pain and I wouild only use it if the pain is the result of inflamation otherwise I would use Tylenol. A doctor buddy just read a study suggesting Tylenol 3 is no better at relieving pain than regular Tylenol so just get the over the couter extra strength stuff and take a few. I'm sure you're gonna have to swallow them all day considering the pain you're in though so don't expect to get a lot of work done.

Over-the-counter mefenamic drugs might work but it's much better if you have your doctor's prescription to make sure with the exact amount of dosage.

I don't believe it. I take Tylenol #3 two or three times a day and it works much better then just plain tylenol.

From experience: I developed an ulcer from using IB...but I was using it for 3-6 months...I suggest try and get Tylonol3 with codeine if you can. IB will fuck you up. :2 cents:

Aulin is the shit for me... makes wonders in 2 minutes, no side effects

If they sell Orudis where you live, try that. The over the counter ones are only like 20 mg because it's strong shit.
When I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, thats what the oral surgeon gave me and it zonked it right to numb super fast.
I've looked for it recently but didnt see it, so not sure if it went back to prescription only or not, but it's good.

Got some Tylenol 3 and I'm good now.
