its amazing though the amount of people and stingrays and nobody gets attacked.. but poor crocodile hunter gets killed with one jab.. :(

FilthyRob 09-04-2006 11:56 AM

The sting is hardcore, got hit in the wrist a year ago and caused most likely permanent nerve damage and my pinky will always feel like a foot that fell asleep.

The same is true with sharks. If you ever see an overhead video of a beach, the waters are always full of sharks. Just goes to show you that sharks really don't want anything to do with humans unless its a mistake.

dammm, growing up in Florida and spending summers in the Bahamas, i can remember countless encounters with no problems.

Uh, where was there a comparison? I said waters are also full of sharks and people don't even realize it.

evanmorgan 09-04-2006 12:44 PM

BlueDesignStudios 09-04-2006 12:44 PM

LittleSassy 09-04-2006 01:24 PM

:Oh crap I didn't know that. I hate sharks. :helpme

Vasago Reno 09-04-2006 02:48 PM

Manowars are no picnic, either. Those fuckers have some wicked toxic venom in their long tails, too. A buddy got one wrapped around his shoulder while surfing in Barbados...he lost feeling in his arm for weeks, and said it burned like a sonovabitch.

We used to see'em on the beach in the Caribbean all the time.

He was lucky. Had it wrapped around his neck, he'd be pushin' up daisies.

UtahSaints 09-04-2006 02:50 PM

It didn't look like attack to me! In honduras they have stingray valley were they come to feed off tourists.

WiredGuy 09-04-2006 02:51 PM

I liked feeding the stingrays in Cayman Islands, so fun :)

How big a hole did that leave in you? Their stinger is huge :Oh crap

MetaMan 09-04-2006 03:21 PM

i do not get the big surprise here, tons of normally "non vicious" animals can kill you,

take a deer for example if one were to come up to you and kick you in the head you would be conked.

anything is possible, they have those barbed tails for an obvious reason DEFENSE.

they dont just roll around and think "lets go kill this human" wild animals are unpredictable and anything can happen in the wild.

Actually rays and sharks are very closely related.

When that one jab is directly in your heart and the barb is 6 inches or more in length then your chances are slim to none you survive.

Exactly one of the reasons why I hate underwater diving. Full of scary creatures underneath.

You can never predict animal's behavior; especially those wild ones.

SmokeyTheBear 10-19-2006 05:58 PM

stingraybump

BVF 10-19-2006 06:17 PM

I always wanted to live by the ocean...Now that I see what's in it, I'd rather just get in the pool or go to the rainforest and swim in the river...I saw some man fishing off the beach hook some black eel like fish...It was dying in the sand so I went to touch it and it didn't move..but he warned me that if it bit me, i'd have to go to the hospital...

And that muthafucka was within a fishing lines throw off the beach...I had no idea..Fuck that.

That's "stingray city" in Grand Cayman. Ive been there a few times. You can hand feed them and pick them up out of the water. Its amazing

Steve Irwin fucked and harassed so many animals, the odds were not good in his favor. It was only a matter of what beast struck it lucky.

We Australians thought it would be a crocodile or a snake. How wrong we were.
