got a flat in the vette yesterday 100 miles from the house . . can only go 25-30 miles on the 'run flats' so I had to get the car carried home . . $400.00 . . new tire $400.00 . . still cheaper than a young GF :) -bmb

You could of driven home on the runflats, you cant go faster then 35 on them, there is no distance on how long you can drive on them, and im sure within 20 miles of where you were there was atleast one tire shop, I have an 04 vette and have the runflats also

pete I called the dealer and they told me 25 miles . . I tried to buy a junk tire to get home on . . . you gotta understand I was up on the grapevine in lebec. pop: 300. wasn't like I was in LA or some place and it was at about 6:30 pm on sat. I'm sure gonna look into the run flats 'cause the car never said anything except . . 'max speed 55' and 'reduced handeling' didn't say antyhing at all about getting off the road . . when the tire blew I was at about 80-90 mph . . the car didn't even get wierd at all . . heard the pop but didn't even know I had a flat until the dash lite up . . the vette is a great car for sure . . -bmb

edit: found this online: Typically, self-supporting tires maintain vehicle mobility for 50 miles at speeds up to 55 mph. (had already done about 10 miles when I pulled up to the tow yard . . had about 70 to go)

Yep, AAA is the way to go.

have the basic member ship . . . had it for 24 years . . 7 miles free tow about 60+ miles short there

yep the plus is 100 miles and the premuim is 200 miles . . might get the premium . . . been reading about the run flats . . up to 100 miles possibly . . just didn't wanna have to buy a rim too . .

i have continantal tires. just replaced the tires 2 months agos. i dont recall my rep at porsche telling me they r run flats but i really dont listen to her when she talks, she is so fucking hot lol. my manual is in my car which is in the garage which is 2 blocks from my apartment bldg(manhattan). i am really gonna look into this. important to know....

do you remember seeing a spare tire in yer car anywhere? vettes have no room for them . . the z06 comes with a patch kit and a pump that goes into a splark plug hole :) run flats don't have the performance that reg tires have . . . not that I drive fast enough to notice . . btw what did you pay for 2 tires . . if it was $800 you're up into run flat territory. a set of tires for the vette is around 1400-1500. can't rotate them either

yes i have a spare. i replaced all 4 tires for around $1400. the backs r a different size than the fronts. i think its called continental sport or something. they r an oddball size, very low profile too....im sure i overpaid.....

well yer complety fucked up and that's a fact . . first off yes I can aford it and second. who in the fuck wants to toss $$ out on car repairs? and third, it sucked being stuck out in the fucking sticks when I have so much work to do and fourth, now I gotta deal with all the crap this week when I would rather be working . . got anything else stupid on yer mind? or did I get lucky and that's it?

When you buy a membership in them, you are making a donation to a lobbyist organization that fights for the rights of... you guessed it... insurance companies. AAA was behind the "National 55" speed limit laws, is behind most checkpoint and traffic law bullshit.

If you really want a auto club that stands for motorists, try looking at driversshield.com. I would never buy an AAA membership if my life depended on it.

DS provides alot of stuff AAA dosent. Like trip interruption insurance.

I've seen this stuff in a can that says it can patch and inflate all in one. Probably won't work unless you only have a pinhole in your tire, but it might be worth the $10 to keep one in your car. Even if it had a 10% chance of working it would be worth a try
