What is overrated? Red Light District and the Coffee shops don't really interest me, I am thinking of museums, sights and so on. |

Van Gogh seems to be the most famous dutch painter but a lot of people in the Netherlands regards Rembrandt as an even better one. Also a walk through the "Vondelpark" might be an enlightning experience. |

Well if I were you I'd take a boat trip first. I know it's a bit lame.
But you will know to find stuff you like in the city faster. It will give you a good impression of what you can do. I'd recommend hanging around at the Museumplein, Leidseplein and that sort of things. And you must visit the museums. And don't forget to go to Rijksmuseum, The Masterpieces Anyways have fun there, it's a great city. And here's a link: http://www.holland.com/amsterdam/gb/ |
