Paysite owners: Anyone using an open-source CMS?

if yes, which one?

I will be getting a cms soon, and it will be sitedepth if I dont find an open source program. Mas is a great program, but 4000$ is out of the question.

Features I want:
Quote:

*Schedule updates

*Custom-set sort order for the galleries in your sites - by date added, by popularity, by name.

*News/Events system.

*"What's new"(Last update) / "What's next"(Next update) sections - with thumbs, titles and descriptions.

*"Most visited links" - site's TOP 10.

*Automated Feedback page.

*Dynamic search function available for members. Search for content attributes or name/description.

*User voting for galleries; display the top-rated ones.
I bet some of these features needs custom coding. But I wanna know how close I can get! Spam me...

No open source CMS will give you all that, wsithout writing some new modules ...

Sitedepth is great and works ' out of the box " ....

I wrote my own when I opened paysites. Seemed to be the best way to get the features I wanted. Not as hard as say affiliate managment software.

Carma from TMM can do every one of those things, and much more.

How much does this one cost? Url?

Carma is $3500 to purchase it outright from http://toomuchmedia.com. TMM also has a leasing option with. It's a great piece of software, but there is a learning curve to implement it.

Also check out http://awiz.com. Awiz looked great from the specs sheet of what it could do. The big issue I had with them before was it took a while for them to get back to me.

Thanks for your reply Ghost. Only problem is that 3,5k is way to much for my skinny budget right now. That is why I was looking for opensource possibilities!

Well you are in luck, I was hired by a company to develop almost exactly what you are looking for. I did it using Mambo, which is a free content management system. In addition, I had it plugged in with paypal for monthly based recurring subscriptions. And it worked! Unfortunately, the company changed gears and I had to take the site down. You will have to email me to view the site because this website is not letting me post links. I figured out how to put this all together with no money (well, they paid my salary). If you like, I could help you out... email me at [email protected]

I built your subscription based site using Mambo

Mambo or Joombla with the Coppermine integration plugin would do it - all open source.

Its never going to be as good as made for the job solution - but for the price :)

This is very true. Mambo/Joomla also has a very good community of developers that can write custom modules as you need them for cheap.

Violetta 09-01-2006 06:29 PM

I am looking at the coppermine right now! Looks very good!
