Cool Pet Gadget - GPS For Your Pet

Wow, I just saw the coolest gadget! It's a GPS for your dog, so if your dog likes to roam, this may be a great thing for you. I may have to get one since my dog, Sammy likes to take himself out for walks.

Here's a cute pic of Sammy. He just graduated from his Petsmart 101 training class. He's so proud. lol

Or you can just have a gps microchip inserted just under the skin of the animal... We did this with our dog, if she is ever lost, animal control can call the gps company and guide them right to the dog...

Collars come off... Or get taken off if the dog was stolen, it's not as good as an implant, an implant is not very painful for the animal, it is like as shot with a larger needle, and the chip is pushed out of the needle with a little water...

Cool. How much was the chip?

This gadget sends you text msgs to your cell phone of your dog's whereabouts. I know my dog won't take off too far, but I know he likes to occasionally roam around the neighborhood.

question is - when are they coming up with one for the kids??

this would be a great way to stop predators and children wandering off and give peace of mind to any parent

good idea, dogs run away from time to time no matter how well trained.

bigmacandcheese 09-01-2006 11:49 AM

anyone know if you can use the same implant in cats?

how much for the chip? would like to have on on muy dog too since he seems to enjoy playing outdoor very much...cant keep an eye on him every time

Sarah_Jayne 09-01-2006 12:33 PM

both of my dogs are chipped...i couldn't live with myself if they were taken or ran off and they weren't able to get them back to me because I didn't spend the $50. A lot of vets over here are throwing them in with the last set of shots a puppy gets.

Yes, you can use the implant in a cat.... It's like the size of a grain of rice...

I think with registration and everything the chip was about $150... something like that... Shelters and pounds like humane society have scanners to read the rf id... so they can look up who the owner is in a database..

There are. Saw an ad on TV the other day. I'm sure most have it but the company that hooked up w/ Disney is promoting it heavily.
