Like a lot of folks out there, this woman hasn't got much of a clue as to how the internet works, or the nature of connectivity and the viewing of websites.

I agree with above.... tell her to install some parental controls, sell her an Internet Eraser program, and steer her to Net-nanny or Cyber-sitter. I wouldn't recommend getting smartass with her or making her feel stupid either.... some of these moms can really kick serious ass when push comes to shove.
(MADD, Alyssa Milano's mom, etc)

Where I'm from, I think 12-14 is almost standard for kids to start driving around the nearby neighborhoods. I know my brother and most of my friends all had a firm grasp on driving by the time they were 13. Many of my friends were driving tractors and skidders by the time they were 12.

Not allowing your children to use the computer because you don't know how is pretty silly, IMO. You know damn well the parent isn't going to go learn the computer, so why deny the kids such a great learning tool?

It's funny sometimes, though - I've gotten a few emails from people thinking I put my site on their computer. Um... I really don't think you can get to my site unless you are specifically searching for this crap. It's not like I have 'toy' or anything kids would be searching (although, I know other sex sites do have that in their metatags).
