I fucking give up

for 4 months now I been waiting for a programmer to finish my site. fucksakes.net for the last 2 months he been telling me it been completed, in the last 2 months I hired 2 other programmers to work on it, for who ever finishes first I would have a site that is functional, I had 1 programmer stopped cause I was told the script would be up in the next couple days, the 2nd programmer is having a really hard time since its new to him, I can't find anyone else that is for real, not some outsourced bullshit.

and today the programmer that always been able to do stuff for me told me he keeps getting problems and he gives up.

4 months of my cock sucking time waiting, even worst.. I been slacking on all my jobs I been doing for others because of me trying to work around getting my site together.

anyone got any suggestions, any serious programmers that need a job?

Fucksakes 08-31-2006 06:07 PM

I think I need a vacation really badly.

Solid Bob 08-31-2006 06:07 PM

woj has never done me wrong. He's always busy but if you ride his ass and pay him enough he'll shit out code that works like you need. :1orglaugh

bknoob 08-31-2006 06:08 PM

if it's any consolation... I really like your site design. :thumbsup Very clean and to the point

Solid Bob 08-31-2006 06:08 PM

What size job are we talking about btw? We give our programmer a day off every month or three if it's something lucrative.

madawgz 08-31-2006 06:09 PM

sounds like an old programmer i know..........

was woj working for you?

he did the same thing to me, and i said fuck it and let him keep the down payment

Fucksakes 08-31-2006 06:15 PM

It was germes from brownie. I don't think its that big of a project, but everyone is making it sound huge.

If only all the trailers would work and were managed to match the fucking site, I would have something more than just another tgp/mgp site.

Sly 08-31-2006 06:23 PM

This past Saturday I gave a programmer a small project. It was finished by Monday. I think he has a bunch of jobs scheduled right now, but if its a small project he may be able to fit you in, or he can just add you to the schedule. Let me know if you want his information.

Fucksakes 08-31-2006 06:29 PM

it will surely take over 4 months to do... no really so it fucking seems

I am thinking it would take a week or two if it was someone on top of things and didnt have to look shit up on the internet to figure out which is the best way to do what.

Fucksakes 08-31-2006 06:32 PM

I will talk to any programmer anyone here mentions.. but I am getting pretty experienced at picking out the ones that talk shit but cant do fuck all.

please don't waste my time..

If you want to send a no bullshit email including what you need / how much you are paying I'll ask our programmer if he has time. Up to you, email is in the signature.

CaptainWolfy 08-31-2006 06:37 PM

take a vacation , and then go back to work , but don't give up!!!

free4porn 08-31-2006 06:45 PM

Fucksakes 08-31-2006 07:07 PM

rodney25 08-31-2006 10:04 PM

Give yourself a nice break. :)

edgeprod 08-31-2006 10:21 PM

Who were the programmers who cocked it up so far, so no one else makes the same mistake?

I've seen a bunch like this recently. Annoying as shit when people can't follow through on stuff they've committed to do. ESPECIALLY when they've already been paid. Or if they've been getting revenue from a project all along and just aren't delivering shit.

CuriousToyBoy 08-31-2006 10:35 PM

Sucks... tried outsourcing to Philippines, Panama or India ?

We use some of them, work well for us, and at least if the guy they assign gets behind, they have someone there to do the catch up.

UniversalPass Pete 09-01-2006 09:59 AM

Welcome to my world! been going through this shit with programmers for 10 years! Almost had a stroke screaming at one of them over the phone lol! Now I just have a more relaxed attitude about it! the bottom line is to call them about 4-5 times a day! bug them so much that they just get it done so they don't hear from you.:pimp

programmers are lazy in general...

Sosa 09-01-2006 10:01 AM

sucks ass man. I'm waiting to go on a mainstream project and trying to hear back from a few designers for their quotes before I go ahead with one of the companies.. Maybe it is time to just move on and take the first quote I got.

Monstaman 09-01-2006 10:02 AM

Anyway great looking site ...

Correct.

I've had a similar experience, and it went longer than 4 months. I remember when they would get close, they kept making these grandious "announcements" that it was the "final reveision" or version.

I always chuckled at first. But then was usually enraged as there was more shit that needed to be fixed. A lot of times they would take liberties changing things I did not ask for, and would have to change it back. A lot of "family emergencies" and internet issues.

I find those annoying. My lifeblood's the web. I have a T1, and cable in my office so if one's down, I flip the router, and get back to work. But like you, I am planning something new, and big. I've become experienced in my meetings seeing who is completely full of shit before dropping thousands of dollars, and signing a continuing support contract.

Finding a good programmer for your work, who will get it done right, AND on time is like mission impossible. Regardless of what you pay them.

I used to manage programmers and outside developers. I've never really found that mature/professional programmers are "lazy"... They just need to be managed properly.. Most coding is "boring" and so they tend to drift to more interesting code, usually the less important things. Clearly defined milestones, task lists etc. help a lot... A programmer is just that, a programmer. They are not project managers.

People hiring programers often complain about things taking longer than they should etc. but often times they're the ones that cause it by the age old "feature creep".. That's why the programmer needs to manage the person they're working for by keeping lists of the agreed upong features/tasks and a seperate list of these types of items. You leave those for the end so its clear that the schedule/cost will increase. If the new "features are critical to the original agreed upon tasks, then the schedule and cost needs to be renegotiated.

Anna_Miller 09-01-2006 01:34 PM

That sucks & I sympathize! We have had similar experiences... not just with programmers but designers. My husband pretty much gave up & just does the programming himself now!

Basic_man 09-01-2006 01:42 PM

Sucks, really bad. Maybe your project is too hard ? :P

flashfreak 09-01-2006 01:48 PM

this sucks indeed...

cyberstar 09-01-2006 01:57 PM

edgeprod 09-01-2006 02:56 PM
