World Cup Quarter Finals

21-Jun-02 England v Brazil KO 07.30 Shizuoka
21-Jun-02 Germany v United States KO 12.30 Ulsan
22-Jun-02 Spain v South Korea KO 07.30 Gwangju
22-Jun-02 Senegal v Turkey KO 12.30 Osaka

Who would have thought it would look like this? I doubt anyone would have even been able to predict 50% of the teams there.

h0st 06-20-2002 06:00 AM

Indeed! I hope winners are in these matchs:

England v Brazil (both sucks so canīt say who is my favourite from that match)
Germany v United States (winner)
Spain v South Korea (winner)
Senegal (winner) v Turkey

LukieD 06-20-2002 06:02 AM

RW316 06-20-2002 06:05 AM

funkmaster 06-20-2002 06:31 AM

"England are gonna kick arse tomorrow."

England v Brazil (3:0)
Germany v United States (3:1)
Spain v South Korea (1:2) -> referee denies 3 spanish goals, and sents of 3 spanish playes
Senegal v Turkey (0:3)

To all those that think the US will win the WC.

Some of the US players are good, but not good enough to win the WC. Also while they will always get the occaisional good result, to win the World Cup takes that little bit extra. This extra they only learn on the playing fields of Europe. Who was the last side that won a WC without any European based players?

You have to go right back.

So before you all start shooting me down in flames, I will put my wallet where my mouth is.

I will bet $300 worth of our content against anyone willing to buy $100 worth of content from our site on the results.

US win the WC, you go choose $300 worth of our content.
They do not win, go spend $100 on our content.

So you want to shoot me down in flames, check your credit card balance.:thumbsup :)

That's rather a silly statement. The reason people go to play Football in Europe is because of the money. It's not that it makes them better players.

South American football is a differentl style to european football, but easily on the same level, if not better.

By the way, 13 of the 23 man squad for Brazil in this world cup are Brazilian based players.

Chodog I never said they go to improve anything but their bank balance. And Brazil prove my point nearly half of their players play in Europe, firstly they are good enough and secondly they learn how to play a system that will win a world cup.

The facts prove me to right, it's over 40 years since a side without European based players won the WC. Or are you saying playing the LA "whoever" and the NY "whoever" week in week out compares with playing against teams like Man U, Inter, Barcelona, Bayern?

Paul Markham 06-20-2002 08:47 AM

Just thought of another reason, the intensity of games. For players playing in the top leagues playing two top level games a week is the norm.

They need this experience to win a WC.

In the US and South Amarica this is not, plus 80+% of the top flight is made up of teams that never win or challenge for anything.

axelcat 06-20-2002 10:21 AM

USA will prevail and bring home the cup, they are cool, calm, and playing like champions. How sweet would it be.:thumbsup

It's inevitable that nearly ANY national team will have players based in Europe (there are very few that don't, i can't even think of any right now)

This has nothing to do with their ability to win world cups. I just think it's silly when people go on and on about how European football is superior to all other football. You don't think they can get the same intensity playing teams from countries such as Brazil, Argentina, and Uraguay to name just a few?

You've obviously never seen a game of South American football! These games are far more intense than the stuff you'll see in English football. English football is far more laid back and easy going. South American football is fast paced, and intense. It's more fun to watch. The only reason people don't seem to know this, is that the coverage is utter bullshit. How often do i get to see such a game, hardly ever =\

Allison 06-20-2002 06:52 PM

quick question... the games are actually tonight (but after midnight) right, not tomorrow night?...
