Gary_TLX 08-30-2006 11:14 AM

Ouch... I once had to camp out in the middle of nothing in Alberta, and at night we heard a big animal roam the forest. It's not something I ever want to experience again.

Pleasurepays 08-30-2006 11:21 AM

i'm from alaska... and its more like "camping above the article circle" not "camping". polar bears are typically very agressive and they are a big problem in many place because they come into towns like barrow and others, roam the streets, eat dogs etc... so wherever this happened, it wasn't like these people didn't know the risks. polar bears tend to be more curious and agressive than other types of bears in alaska.

from my experience, usually these cases are hippy scientists trying to make the world a better place and believing in all thats good and wonderful that had their utopianistic views of life and nature shattered by the shock and horror of finding out the hard way that predators are predators. (the pics look like natives though - probably even from russia)

my dad (also a brown bear guide) best friends father shot the last legally hunted polar bear in the US, i believe.

abadfish 08-30-2006 11:22 AM

I am leaving to go camping tonight... :/ No polar bears but there are grizzly bears and other bears.

We have a cabin but I always camp outside cause the cabin is so old I feel safer outside. lol

StuartD 08-30-2006 11:24 AM

If you go to where they are and move in... what do you think will happen?

Do you stick your hand in a hornet's nest and wonder why you got stung?

Poplar Bears are not some to fuck wiht thats for sure
to them you are just as appealing as a seal and they love to eat seal.

There haven't been any bears in Poplar since before the Romans, plenty of bi-polar humans though. :thumbsup

Dude, that Survivorman show or some shit on Discovery Channel they had a guy get marooned out in the alaskan mountains, Usually he has the minimum equipment and survival gear.. But for this one they said that the one condition of him being allowed to do it was he carry a rifle and matches to help him build a fire or some shit.. The Polar bears were near because the seals come out in that area or something... CRAZY.....
