What do you do with CopyCats ?
The problem with the internet is that everybody can just copy your site and business ideas and make them their own. I would love to martyrize all these fucking loosers, but Amnesty says I can't :(
So what do you handle this ? :) |
Send them a C&D letter.
|
This usually works ?
|
send them a nice email stating they took copyrighted material
hit me up ill send a copy so you know what to send - that usually does it 16 91 547 |
There is a huge difference in copying produced material (graphics, texts, etc) and copying general business ideas. If you couldn't copy an idea only one of us would be making money on porn... :)

if you deposited the idea for a trademark you could have a case otherwise if its general like a colorscheme etc not deposited youre basically lost |
It's for one of my mainstream sites.
This dude, had copied my text changed a few words. Merchants are the same. Reviews are the same. Even my domain name is ripped with one word changed |

copy the copycats

Some webmaster came up with the idea of a "review" site. As you know, there is more than one review site now. Almost all of them have a rating system, short description, long description, pricing etc. What works is copied, and there isn't anything you can do about it.
Program owners often surf, join and keep tabs on their competition, checking out what they are doing, how they are doing things and basically implementing thier ideas. Webmasters are always looking at other webmasters sites and copying the style/idea if they think it will work and bring in a few sales. It is the same in mainstream....it is the same in brick and mortar establishments. Instead of worrying about who is copying your "ideas", spend that time instead on coming up with new ones and stay one step ahead of everyone. You can't prevent people from implementing your general ideas, you can only prevent them from making a direct copy etc. of your site. |
must be annoying, just send them an email!

Problem is that this is actually costing me money. User is advertising on exact same keywords, with slightly altered ad text and display url. All my conversions are fucked up and my overall ctr has dropped from 3% to 2%, that is 1/3rd This guy should be executed ! |
