I just doubled the RAM in my desktop computer.
Now I've got 8mb's or RAM BABY!
Top that, bitches. :glugglug I think I'm gonna move to a 40mb hard drive if I can afford it next month. |
I remember my first "IBM compatible" when I doubled the RAM to 4 MB
|
I've got something else to RAM...

It is funny to see people complain about a slow computer when they dont realize the work that the puter is actually doing,
A guy hooked a computer to a piano, and ran a program to watch for keystrikes on the keyboard. The puter was a 64mb of ram with like a 1 gig hard drive. slow as hell by todays standards. He started the program, and then hit on key as fast as he could. the program was checking the keys more than 30k times between strikes. Imagine. |

smaller was better the programs were written much tighter than today.

This thread has really reminded me how cheap things have gotten, especially micro drives and compact flash.
In 2002 i bought a 1gig micro drive for close to 400 bucks if i remember correctly. Yesterday I bought a 2gig for 99 bucks! |
I need floppy disk 2 to Windows 3.1

Don't keep animals in my computer - the ram is being productive with the sheep outside.

I remember a friend bigging up his 16kb memory upgrade on his ZX81, a 160% increase on the 1kb that came with it.

The aforemention IBM with the 2gb RAM had a 125 MB HDD, Windows 3.0, dot matrix printer, 12" monitor and a mouse . . . cost like $3,300 |
I got a DKB-3128 Zorro-3 card for my A4000. Now I can put 128MB into it.. if only I had the $3,000 for 128MB :(

Exactly. Many years ago I worked for a computer store. I remember people lining up to buy the 32mb chips that were going on sale for $699.00 I also remember my dad building computers back around 1991 or so. $1.00 per mb was a good price for a Western Digital drive. I picked up another 2gb for my video puter today. It was under $200. Unreal. |
LOL Did anyone here own a "zip drive"
