google password assistance?

"to retrieve your google password click here" - or sth like that

im getting such email every few weeks / months, today got like 5 of them

is that some bug, or is someone trying to actually reset my password and access my mail?

curvestar 08-28-2006 02:34 AM

my guess would be it's a scam. stay away from it, and contact google to let them know.

polish_aristocrat 08-28-2006 02:39 AM

well it sends the message to my other email adress and asks me to click a link
I obviously don't do it so nothing happens

but if someone wants to access my email I have news for you
aristocrat / gmail.com is not my main email and if you hack it, you won't gain anything at all :upsidedow

isn't that what the 1337 h@x0rs call "phishing"?

wtf i honestly get such emails every month

today i got one in Russian

all the other ones were in English and I think they're legitimate , they basically say that I requested resetting my password for my gmail account and they want me to confirm it :uhoh

Why did I receive a 'Google Password Assistance' message at my alternate email address?
When an attempt to recover your Gmail username or password is made, an email from Google is automatically sent to your secondary email address.
If you didn't request to recover your username or password, you can ignore the message. If you're concerned about the security of your account, we recommend changing your password and security question.

The Gmail Team isn't able to provide you with information about attempted logins to your account including, but not limited to, the IP address from which the attempted login was made, and the time and date attempted logins occurred

ok, someone really wants to 'hack' one of my gmail accounts

I wonder why though?

maybe they are testing out their SQL injections...trying to get the email to be sent to their emails as opposed to yours...

what a great idea.

unfortunately for them, it is not working..

good for you...contact google...and forward them the emails so they get stop it.
