Blackberry 8700 or Palm Treo 700p

ANyone have either of these phones? Which one should I get?

Digipimp 08-27-2006 12:33 PM

i like my treo, its pretty sweet, tons of software options, more than blackberry at the moment and it's palm os so it works better with my mac

Young 08-27-2006 12:34 PM

if e-mail is your first priority go with the blackberry. otherwise go with the treo.

blackberry email is addictive. seriously.

Digipimp 08-27-2006 12:35 PM

really theres nothing that has to do with email that the blackberry does that the treo doesnt do

push e-mail? do your research buddy. :1orglaugh

blackberry's push technology is eons beyond anything out. companies are just now rushing to build competition.

Young 08-27-2006 12:38 PM

always on email

do your research pal

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push_email

Digipimp 08-27-2006 12:39 PM

i know what it is and if you're in areas where you have highspeed data for your treo there are plenty of email programs for treo that will do it, do your research

Young 08-27-2006 12:39 PM

"Blackberry became very popular, in part because it offers remote users "instant" e-mail experience; new mails appear on the device as soon as they arrive, without the need for any user intervention. The handheld becomes a mobile, dynamically updating, copy of the user's mailbox."

Seriously though Shoehorn. If you're main concern is apps then go with a Treo. If its e-mails and web...go with a BB.

ok. the Treo would have to pull the e-mail every 1 second to come anywhere close to Push technology. Which would result in 10 minute battery life and huge strains on your web server.

Treo is not push capable. Huge difference.

Just please stop. :1orglaugh :helpme

actually check out chatter it does it and i've used it but went back to versamail cause i didnt need it done since i'm out of a highspeed data area most of the time, but chatter does it no problem. you might have wanted to make sure it wasn't possible before you decided it was

ok. buy a out of the box email giant blackberry(Fortune 500 standard). or upgrade your treo and hope youre in a high speed data access area.

you win.

Yeah, I don't really have corporate email that I would have to check constantly, mostly just checking it every so often to make sure everything is running smoothly. It looks like the Treo has a ton of great games too. :)

Digipimp 08-27-2006 12:47 PM

so you choose a whole different phone because when you're not in a highspeed data area you might get your email 2 minutes before me?

choosing a phone solely for email is retarded

:1orglaugh ok. tell that to the millions of blackberry customers. :1orglaugh :helpme

you sound less and less inteligent with each post. i told shoehorn if he wants an e-mail and web solution go with the blackberry. and if not go with the Treo. I am not in here for an argument.

Go pick lint out of your belly button and stop wasting my time.

Article on Blackberry addiction. You will never understand unless you have one.

Digipimp 08-27-2006 12:53 PM

alot if depends on your carrier as well, since i have sprint its better to have a treo since i only pay a small monthly for data and they dont charge it by the minute, its just unlimited and doesnt count as minutes

so check your carrier as well to see if you get a better plan on one over the other, most carriers will require additional fees for blackberry service in addition to regular cell service

i had a treo for all but one day. i posted about it on here actually. i'm an email guy. i have 9 different accounts pushed and forwarded to my bb. the treo is nice...especially for media. but it wasn't for me.

Young 08-27-2006 01:03 PM

the track wheel and back button is much more intuitive and easier to access then the stylus.

this is just my opinion though. i will not argue over opinion. I will argue over facts though. fact is treo has no push email technology whatsoever.

Thats another thing, right now I am with Verizon, which I can stay with without any problems with the Treo, but if I get that Blackberry it is only available with Cingular, and I don't know if I want to go through all the hassle of switching providers and stuff. :Oh crap

yeah it really all depends on what you do, i got rid of the blackberry because having a phone just for the purpose of email didnt make sense. they are really starting to come out with a lot more software for them, but to me the new 700p was perfect since i could use chatter for push email if i wanted, i had access to tons and tons of apps for palm os which has been around a long time with tons of developers now and it worked better for my carrier as well

oh yeah i've got a little free player for the treo and i can encode that shit perfect so that it plays awesome with real small file sizes and using sd cards that hold up to like 4 gigs is crazy

brand0n 08-27-2006 03:34 PM

Yes you can and it's data connection rate when used as a tethered wireless modem for a laptop shits on a Blackberry.

Treo's are better so far without a doubt. Blackberries are for people who just don't know any better.

Oh, and Young, the reason they are in so many people's hands is because they make more economic sense for corporate IT communications budgets, not because they are better products. The device of choice for most of the actual IT guys is the Treo. One look around silicon valley will tell you that.

bausch 08-27-2006 04:31 PM

Young, do you have your blackberry connected to your webmaster@ e-mail?

And if so, how does it work say if you check your email at your pc first? Does the blackberry still get the email or does it know you already checked it?

Also are you supposed to set it up with the desktop redirector? I never got it to work.

Holly Lez! 08-27-2006 04:36 PM

I have the Blackberry 8700 and I love it! Was so much easier to set up email on and easy to customize the way I want it! Tmobile has a pretty good plan. I can't wait for the Blackberry Perl it looks bad ass!

tttcash 08-27-2006 06:33 PM

I Have a BlackBerry and love it! My problem with the Treo is that the buttons are to small for me. I can't type correctly.
