Questions For Bloggers

Oh god...not another business thread.

I swear I'll get around to posting pictures of 'would you hit it' broads and descriptions of my latest shit-date-meal-purchase soon but if I don't at least pretend like I work, all the checks stop coming.

Who has a blog with decent traffic? I'm not talking about you guys who brag about your PR4 and do literally HUNDREDS of clicks a day.

What is your typical clickthrough ratio from blog to sponsor, and then conversion ratio from sponsor to sale? Anybody?

Dagwolf 08-27-2006 12:43 AM

I have blogs without decent traffic. :thumbsup

In fact my traffic is downright indecent lately.

Well, not helpful but A response; so I know I'm not banned and only seeing my own posts.

Hundreds of the right hits to a blog in a day can be very good traffic indeed. Too many people think of them like TGP galleries when they are more like free sites in the nature of traffic.

fris 08-27-2006 04:51 AM

ranges, up to 20k hits to a sponsor.

Too many people TURNED them into TGP galleries and free sites.. Don't know why they insist on calling them blogs..

That is true as well but what I meant was that a lot of the people that have suddenly jumped into blogs have only really worked with galleries and expect that huge volume of traffic. They haven't really done the free site thing where the traffic is smaller but more productive and think if they only have a few hundred hits to the blog in the first week it is crap traffic. I agree that people are turning them into TGP clones too but that is only better for those of us that actually produce blogs with real content.

Honestly, if you're going to make a TGP clone a blog is the place to do it. :2 cents:

Hey everybody, thanks for all the great information in this thread.

Oh wait, there isn't any.

Simple questions:

Do you manage a blog?

If yes, how much traffic? (optional answer)

What is the overall CTR to sponsors?

What is the overall conversion ratio?

Look how easy it is, I'll start:

Do you manage a blog?

Yes, yes as a matter of fact I do.

If yes, how much traffic? (optional answer)

Growing all the time, but averaging about 10k a day currently.

What is the overall CTR to sponsors?

Something like 10-15%, should I be happy or concerned?

What is the overall conversion ratio?

Under 1:200 overall, again should I be happy or concerned?

Rochard 08-27-2006 06:33 PM

1) I have a blog.
2) Lots of traffic.
3) No clue. I would imagine it's pretty good since there is so much on the first page of my blog that surfers will click on something.
4) Again, difficult for me to gauge. Because of the nature of my blog I put up a link and slowly it gets bumped down the page. I don't create campaigns for each link. (I should try that sometime.)

Azlord 08-27-2006 07:13 PM

Honestly, I don't really care about CTR from my blog to the sposor. I just care about where my blog can get me on the search engines. Cause that's where the sales are.

Roper69 08-27-2006 07:23 PM

15%-20% CTR to sponsors on a real blog (not just links) is good.

beta-tester 08-27-2006 07:28 PM

I run couple real blogs, with long custom made posts which get few hundreds and even thousands visits daily. I probably get about 1K or so click to sponsors...so for me the CTR is pretty high...can be even 40%!! (not to mention on tgp traffic it's barely 5%)

wedouglas 08-27-2006 07:54 PM

I dont think anyone manages them that closely to be able to tell. Unless they are setting up the blog and using linkcodes in specific campaigns, or using tracking software, I highly doubt you will find a good answer. Most peoples blogs arent good enough for them to dedicate enough resources.

I'm sorry isn't this a BUSINESS?

Why wouldn't you do all these things?

I mean this is my business. A blog or anything else I do is to swipe traffic from other sites, sell it and then use that money to support my stripper habit and my penchant for keeping all my shit indoors.

Well for starters I'd sit in front of my computer day and night for years upping my GFY post count with clever stuff like "I got mad woooooooooooood yoooooooooooooooooooo." and making Photochops of myself.

Then when I had tens of thousands of posts I'd start selling my sig to people and posting like 50 times A DAY!!! I'd try to post in every single thread. I'd post from my Blackberry, just non-stop posting day in, day out.

Every time I take a shit or pop a zit I'd start a thread about it.

Then I'd sell my sig AGAIN and it would get bigger and bigger and I'd post and post and post.

Oh wait...that's already been done, hasn't it?

You're forgetting that you'd make jokes about being a "bro" 10 times a day.
