Anything less than $7 or $8 is suspect, because the registrar has to pay Network Solutions $6 and ICANN .25 (or something close to those numbers) for each registered domain. So even at $7, it's maybe 25 cents margin per name, which really isn't enough to operate the infrastructure a decent registrar requires.
Registrars selling domains for $3 are obviously doing it as a loss leader and they're planning to stick it to you some other way. We use Enom because they are one of the largest registrars, they're solid and reliable, you can reach a human, and unlike GoDaddy, they don't have 10,000 upsells when you're trying to buy one domain name. And if you register in volume, they are pretty cheap, between $7.50 and $9 |
http://www.easy-registry.com $8.25 for .com/.net/.org
I'm not the cheapest but I don't try to stick it to ya' either. I resell for Enom, sis-in-law is their HR manager, visit their offices every so often and I'm online and can usually be reached when you need me. |
domains.yahoo.com $1.99
|
