The Future of Music!!!!

Ok so im sitting down tonight & listening to a Nelly song (not the canadian chick, the rapper).

Halfway through the cd i could swear i heard him say "i got my right gaurd, my speedstick....never let em see you sweat"

So i realize, this fucking nit-wit is advertising Deoderant on his fucking Album. What a fucking sellout!

But then it hit me....If all music was like that, who cares if people pirated the mp3's? The more that got traded the more people hear the subliminal advertisement.

It pretty much solves the pirating issue by making the songs lucrative way past the sale of a cd.

I forsee mad commercial advertising in the songs of the future.

P.S. i'll never listen to that fucking sellout nelly again :1orglaugh

Nelly - Its hot in here.mp3 :)

TarPy 06-18-2002 10:59 PM

To some extent they already do that in modern TV and Movies. For instance you will see many times close-ups of cans of coke, or pepsi. If they got money from Pepsi, the can says Pepsi, if not, it says Cola, or Soft Drink, or some gay shit.

I do however fear the day that Gay Shows like Sex in the City and Friends become one giant ad for their clothes, jewelry, shoes, and makeup.

LOL my eyes just closed before I did my sig, I fuckin need sleep

How many rappers have the Motorola text pagers in their videos? Seems like half of them that are on MTV sneak that in somewhere.

SetTheWorldonFire 06-18-2002 11:58 PM

Kids love Nelly. Can't hate on that.

eru 06-19-2002 04:45 AM

There is that stupid looking raper and his brother that rape about their butt-ugly Escalade jeeps.

Yes the lines between artists and corporations are getting more blurred. Snoop Dogg is coming out with a Cadillac Snoop Deville. http://www.chartattack.com/damn/2001/11/2205.cfm
Oh yeah and he's doing porn now too so all the lines are really getting strange.

Homegrownvideo 06-19-2002 10:23 AM

That is pretty funny!

I love busta rhymes myself. My favorite is on E.L.E., in one of the songs he promotes his other group, as i recall he says , "Flipmode squad...new album, labor-day 2000!" right in the middle of the song.

Ahh, i laughed my ass off. Busta rocks ; )

eRock 06-19-2002 11:10 AM

I understand what you're sayin', pro & it's very likely you're correct. But I've heard a lot of products mentioned in rap tunes before & for quite a while. Beastie Boys have been doin' it for years....probably since the beginning of their rap career.

Ive worked in studios for years, youd be surprised the hidden shit we leave in final mixes or overdubs of bands doing stupid shit.

Tis called "back-masking"

We do alot of atmospheric 3d sounds backwards over tracks or instruments like the Theremin which adds to it like you wouldnt believe, like the Beach Boys and the Beatles.... may i quote John...

"I use the harmony until it sounds like a symphony."

;)

The future of music is right here.

Danny_C 06-19-2002 06:23 PM

That's why I don't listen to that bullshit. Only real artists for me.

When will everyone realize that this is the way of the world... this is how business works.

Either you have quality, exclusive content that you can sell all by itself, or you use someone else's name and/or product to make money. Tis the nature of THIS industy, and every other.

Nelly is just tryin' to get his, as is Britney, J-Lo and every other Hollywood whore on every corner. Now that does not mean you have to like or dislike their music. (i do not consider any of the above mentioned as talented artists/musicians, for the record).

Just as the hun sells banner spots to keep his business running, Hollywood is the same old shyte.

Now if you want to discuss talented artists, musicians, rappers, .....well mainstream celebrities do not necessarily qualify as any of these lol
