The case of the kidnapped Austrian girl is such a gripping story
 

For those that haven't followed the news - Natascha Kampusch was kidnapped 8 years ago and apparently kept in a cellar for that time but she managed to escape the other day. The man holding her then threw himself infront of a train.

I can't imagine the emotions her parents must have been feeling the last few days.

They are saying she had Stockholm syndrome to some extent but who can blame her. Your brain has to kick into survival mode.

Been watching this story all day on CNN and when the story broke yesterday, very sad but she is alive and she is with her parents again:thumbsup

Yes, there is something to be said for someone like that being made to face his crimes. They are saying there might be somebody else that was involved as they think there was two people in the car when she was taken.

This little girl deserves every penny she will get when somebody buys her story. What a survivor.

They only just added that video to the page. I think it is from tonight's news broadcast. It is beyond chilling.

They are suggesting that she was abused but not outrightly saying it yet.

Considering the cases in Belgium she is a very lucky girl in some ways.

that really is an amazing story. makes think how many other kids might be out there in the world kept as prisoners to some nut job.

i find her pretty tough to survive that without going insane or suffering from some serious trauma..

I'm glad to hear that she remained sane. I guess the radio and occasional TV have helped. Imagining being locked up from age 10 to 18 gives me the creeps.

Nowhere near as intense as my collapsed vein when I am REALLY jonesing for a hit..

Jesus, I would have thought the girl would have gone mad but she seems to be ok from the article.

i still rember the story when the girl disappeared here in austria 8 years ago,
hundred of officers and policemen were searching for weeks.
her parents were suspected to have something to do with her disappearance
---> the worst case what can happen to parents in such a situation

sad thing is, i bet there are hundreds others still unknown

I think okay is probably relative to the situation and I am sure it is early days as far as determining her real mental state.
