Yes, and we chose to have our name taken from our respective initials.
CRISPA '92 :winkwink: |
Yes. We were a grammar school "gang" though, so our biggest exploits were writing our names on tables in school and finding out how to insult fat girls in Latin :Oh crap

There wasn't any gangs when I was growing up.So many ethnic ones nowadays
Nope, never.
does the US ARMY count?
I was in a girls's gang! The worst girls in the school.

@ 13/14 I was a "98th Street Boy" (named after the street we hung out on, obviously)
@ 16 I moved up in the ranks and became an "Ave L Boy" (named after the street I hung out on, obviously again) Then @ 17/18 - 20 yrs old or so - I was down with the "Bayview Boys" (named after 'The Bayview Projects' in Brooklyn where I grew up) Scary names, huh? LOL We did get into some fucked up shit though. Lots of dead and jailed peeps in my past :( My best friend got shot in the head in front of me ... by another one of our friends. He didn't die. Actually, it made him feel invincible after that. The friend that shot him simply 'vanished'. I moved out of Brooklyn for good about 8 months later and put that life behind me. The crazy good/bad old days! Shit, that was about 18 years ago! :eyecrazy I've come a long way baby! :1orglaugh |
nope, my mom would have me hanged before questioning me..
does a counterstrike clan count? :1orglaugh

We made a group with our skater friends (about 20 of us) called CAS which stood for crazy ass skaters, haha. We were such dorks but damn we were kinda hardcore I guess, we all thought we were fucking invincible back then, those were the days.

Yes, definitely. I saw and used more guns and whatnot before I was 15 than most people do in their entire lives. Fortunately I realized how stupid it was and moved on quickly.
I was a cheerleader. In my HS, that was about as close to a gang as you could get ;)
came very close but nope, i was always independant :)

P.S. if you were in brooklyn, you were in some sort of gang, whether is was called so or not. Unless ofcourse your parents didnt let you out :) |

I grew up in NYC and was in a graffiti crew. It was more like a group of guys/girls spread throughout the city and beyond. Things were much lighter back then. We didn't walk around with guns or start shit with regular people. When we had 'beef' it was fist to fist or maybe a knife. But mostly good times, good drink, good smoke and of course running from the cops.
nobody else huh
Yeah, and you better believe we wuz pimps! :pimp :pimp

We had a crew in High School called the "Mob Crew". We actually didn't call ourselved that, but we got labeled that. Just a bunch of us that partied, fought, fucked and got stoned. Thank God I grew out of it, but it's more than I can say for some people who we hung out with. I was also in a tagging crew around Vegas. When I went to college, I actually got my art scholarship from my graffitti on canvas. :)
I was in El Emm-ay (The Mexican Mafia) in the joint. I have the ink to prove it.
i was a trouble child but i never joined a gang...
I grew up with Crips but wasent stupid enough to get involved.
Gotta love Queens. :upsidedow |

... and well said. It wasn't like we were bloods or crips. more like 20 -30 guys and chicks hanging out by the corner store or pizzaria's or whatever park and there were always beefs with other kids from whatever other part of the neighborhood or the next neighborhoods over. i remember one night a few friends had an issue with some kids in Mill Basin. When they got back to Canarsie we loaded up in 4 cars and drove back over. it was like 16 of us against 20+ of them and this one kid got stabbed with a screwdriver in the neck. he lived and wore his battle scar as a "badge of honor"! One time when i was 16 i was with 6 friends over by Kings Plaza causing trouble. We ended up in a fight with these guys. they left and we were walking through their neighborhood. turns out they got a bunch more of their friends and we turned around about 5 blocks away and had like 20 guys chasing us. i ended up getting caught hiding on someones balcony. I hit the first guy with one of those metal folding chairs. he went flying down the stairs and 4 more guys came up and beat the crap out of me with baseball bats and chains. It felt like an eternity but probably only lasted about 40 seconds to a minute or so IF that long! One of the people on the block started screming about calling the cops and all the kids took off running. my friends were scattered hiding under cars and on other balconies ... 2 kids banged on someone's door and pushed their way in. I was laying on the floor like a bloody stump. bleeding from below my eye and my skull plus they busted up my elbow something awful! Funny how this HEAT just took over my whole body and everything was in slow motion! i didn't feel any pain. not one whack from a bat or chain hurt .... I was kicked and punched and didn't feel anything. Pretty nuts! My friends packed me all bloody into a car service and high-tailed it over to Brookdale Hospital (where I was born)! They carried me into the ER and dropped me on the nurses desk. I left a few hours later with some butterfly stiches, a minor concussion and my arm in a sling! The next week we mobbed up and drove back! I'm not going to post what we did in retaliation - but man, we were some crazy fucks! :helpme Oh, the memories! |

Great stories man, Im a little younger, but have many similar stories from the same areas. many beefs in kings plaza during high school, spent most of my time in Coney, had a long term girlfriend there from 17-21 I am actually going back there tommorow, today actually, i leave at 4 pm. Folks still live in mill basin, Shame was happened to canarsie, in your time of growing up it was a great place for the working class, a lot of 'neighborhood' guys, basically a slum now. An extension of East New York. My little league coach used to own " Laundry King " on ave L, 80 something street. The good old says...man do things change ;) |
