Were you a SKATER in the 80's?? Great Memories.
Damn.. That was a good time...
Powell Peralta, Vision Street Ware, Madrid, Gator (he's in Jail) Christain Hasoi, Steve Caberello..... I was just looking at some of the old boards from the day, and admiring them like they were art work. Good memories. |

Ahhh Shit!!
The Search for Animal Chin!! Haaaa! Holy SHit! http://image.blog.livedoor.jp/thrask...9bd500dc-s.jpg |

Yeah my first ramp i built was a quarter pipe, then a J Ramp, then a half pipe..
Mr. Romance |
Thinking of maybe buying some of these old decks.. Just for the hell of it. Maybe putting em up in the garage or something.
This brings back great memories.. http://www.backyardskates.com/Gonz/originalgonz.jpg In addition to the Powel Perelta decks, this Gonzo was one of my favorites.. |
not really.
|
Those boards were much more heavy duty than they are these days. I rocked a few Visions in my days. Each lasted a few months without cracks. After I went "new school", i was breaking boards almost weekly. :(
|
Ahh and remember the Independent Trucks!!
http://www.outlookskates.com/StickerIndyFOILyellow.gif http://www.fluidsk8shop.com/images/I...uck%20copy.jpg What were some of the other names of Trucks back then? Like Gull wings?? Thunder.. I liked thunder....... Tracker.. And what seemed expensive, the tracker ultra lights! Damn man. That was a fucking good time. Seems like yesterday thinking of this shit. |
I had the Tony hawk board, the white one looks a bit like the one you have with the narrow nose part, cool memories! :upsidedow

What were some of the names of the wheels?? I remeber spending so much time and money on supplies all the time. Knew every product out there.
I remember Slime Balls Wheels. OJ II wheels.. 85A, 92 A, and then even 96A.. Awsome for street sliding. |

I should go to my moms place and get some old skate pics of me in the 7th grade..
I WAS A SHREDDER........... Got some cool pics. |
I skated for 12 years and was actually locally sponsored. I was always a Powell Peralta guy but switched to Santa Cruz in the early 90's. Once everything went to switchstance and I knew I was going to have to re-learn everything ALL over again, I threw in the towel. Funny enough, I went to a skatepark about 5 years later and hadn't really lost much. I can still do most of my old tricks...muscle memory is a hell of a thing:)
|
Not in the 80's but some years ago, heh.
The old times looks good, i'd love to be there. |
never really got into the sport but had a lot of friends who were

but I did skate a half pipe though at my all time peak . Oh and this was in the 90's , in the 80's i was a big fan of Gleaming the Cube ... |
i had every board in this thread. every truck, every wheel
remember swiss bearings? remember thunder bolts? unbreakable? |
I went out with a guy name Jeff sponsored by Eternal Skateboards
when i was in my teens . |
I've still got a board I bought in '86, a Caballero. Weighs a ton. Still take it to the skate park once in a while, although since my center of gravity is much different than back then I can't skate as well, plus it hurts a lot more to bail now that I don't weigh 110lbs.
