Were you a SKATER in the 80's?? Great Memories.

Damn.. That was a good time...

Powell Peralta, Vision Street Ware, Madrid, Gator (he's in Jail) Christain Hasoi, Steve Caberello.....

I was just looking at some of the old boards from the day, and admiring them like they were art work.

Good memories.

boneprone 08-24-2006 04:02 PM

Thinking of maybe buying some of these old decks.. Just for the hell of it. Maybe putting em up in the garage or something.

This brings back great memories..

http://www.backyardskates.com/Gonz/originalgonz.jpg

In addition to the Powel Perelta decks, this Gonzo was one of my favorites..

BSleazy 08-24-2006 04:05 PM

not really.

shermo 08-24-2006 04:06 PM

Those boards were much more heavy duty than they are these days. I rocked a few Visions in my days. Each lasted a few months without cracks. After I went "new school", i was breaking boards almost weekly. :(

boneprone 08-24-2006 04:08 PM

Ahh and remember the Independent Trucks!!

Like Gull wings??

Thunder.. I liked thunder.......

Tracker..

And what seemed expensive, the tracker ultra lights!

Damn man. That was a fucking good time.

Seems like yesterday thinking of this shit.

Aneros Josh 08-24-2006 04:24 PM

I skated for 12 years and was actually locally sponsored. I was always a Powell Peralta guy but switched to Santa Cruz in the early 90's. Once everything went to switchstance and I knew I was going to have to re-learn everything ALL over again, I threw in the towel. Funny enough, I went to a skatepark about 5 years later and hadn't really lost much. I can still do most of my old tricks...muscle memory is a hell of a thing:)

ne0 08-24-2006 04:28 PM

Not in the 80's but some years ago, heh.
The old times looks good, i'd love to be there.

blazi 08-24-2006 04:31 PM

MattO 08-24-2006 04:44 PM

I've still got a board I bought in '86, a Caballero. Weighs a ton. Still take it to the skate park once in a while, although since my center of gravity is much different than back then I can't skate as well, plus it hurts a lot more to bail now that I don't weigh 110lbs.
