We've got a YouTube type url and are in the development stages presently.

With my setup, you'd be up & running & ready to take uploads in less than 30 minutes :thumbsup

I think everyone will have this anyways. Point is I think these sites will get hit with law suits eventually. But what do I know ...

Not to mention that if they actually got popular they would bankrupt everyone that owned em.

So they own every domain that has the word "TUBE?" That's BS. They don't own that word and can't do shit about you owning xxxTube.com

Yeah start a porn site or something. Here's an idea for you, try to get traffic and then either sell it to a site that offers a product or get them to give you a cut of every sale.

Anyone can put anything on a domain and call it a clone of something. YouTube is the brand. Clone that, and you might have something.

YouTube, as far as web technologies is nothing. YouTube, as far as infrastructure technologies is nothing (except perhaps expensive).

No, I said nothing about them owning "Tube".. however, If you have a video hosting site & choose to call it something tube, you are making yourself candidate to be likely to be accused of trademark infringing because it is same basis, & type of business with almost same name :2 cents:

I think it might if I had lot's of people posting, etc.. my 2nd one I still havent got vids even uploaded yet,, the first one I started a couple months ago has somewhere around 25 videos.,, I'm still working on traffic.. shit,, the top movie in last month has only had like 650 views

lol yea but if I'm not mistaken I thought it was youtube that still has failed to make a profit. Then again a lot of big companies do that kinda thing on purpose so they can not pay taxes and so on.

Let me clarify I was not talking about the tube name ...

My point is that by hosting videos of tv shows and such and possible content people did not want uploaded it can lead to a law suit.

I do not understand how they are able to take live tv show clips and then place them on their site for profit without permission from the networks.

Beyond that people that put up videos of others who did not want it posted is kind of in the same area.

Maybe I just don't understand how it works but these are two issues I would be thinking about before starting a site like this.

I was wondering about the backlinks?? can anyone confirm that if a surfer hotlinks a pic to their blog etc i.e. xyz.com/jpgs/123.jpg

will this count as a backlink to the xyz.com domain?? i think it would?? and a natural backlink the se's should love much better than a BS backlink from tgp submitter :)
