So you want to beat youtube.. ?

Recreate the same idea but give users the ability to share in the profits from advertisements on the page..

So its like fhg's you create..

If surfers got paid the more people that watched their video they would be very happy..

Give them the ability to advertise from a huge list of sponsors that you control..

So they signup upload say a street racing video and pick to advertise racing parts alongside. and they get a percentage of the profits..

Also put the advertising right on the flash so sites that dont want to pay for bandwidth costs can simply upload videos , display them on their own site and make money from it..:thumbsup

so you're gonna pay the bandwith AND give the submitters your advertising profits. great idea.

the way they are doing the advertsing now sucks ass , so if you can double the advertsising profits then you can afford to give up to %50 up the proceeds away and still be making more money than youtube.. if the user can choose the advertising to be displayed alongside it they will promote it more..

I don't know how they could be making a profit period right now ( can you imagine the bandwidth/server farm it would take to run that? D: ). I always figured they were funded by venture capitalists at the moment with hopes of selling for half a bil+ like myspace.

That's the reasoning I came too... they are paying like a million dollars a month hosting now, it goes up every day. How they are making a profit is beyond me at this point.

See: http://Revver.com and several others (veoh.com) that are launching that ability, soon.

But not sure about adult versions.

I concur, thats the business model I thought they were aiming at as well. And they'll probably do it too.

well theres several ways to do it , its safer to rev the "profits" but as you pointed out a little more difficult to calculate and to point out to the user.. i.e. there would have to be a "floating" payout.

Sounds like a good idea to me, man. I know a bunch of a college kids who have funny/stupid videos that they post all of the time. Ad some monetary incentive(s) for them and they'd do it for sure.

bwha me and you should be partners i had that idea years ago but heres my way of doing it for free with no commercials.. you make mandatory closed captioning and sell off the keywords to the highest bidder.. so when someone says the word "apple" a little message appears "drink dole apple juice"

I personally think diluting user videos with branded commercial content is a big mistake and will make the fickle users drop them for another "user submitted only" site once the viewing experience is degraded enough. The commercial media Advertisers who own the content will also drop them once they find out how to cut out the middle man.

They should start embedding ads or sharing surrounding ad revenue with the bigger Director accounts at least as these have a large base of loyal fans. :2 cents:

i heard about a site doing that already, but at the time of being digged it was offline due to bandwidht problems, cant remember the address, i let u know if i find it

This doesn't sound much different from one those pic posting sites where you upload a pic, and then get paid for the views. What will happen is the system will get flooded with copyrighted videos, but I guess since money is being made, no one cares about this minor detail?

yah its sort of the right idea, but i think it can be done alot better :)

They lose money now because it was yet another site created to sell for hundreds of millions or billions later. If YouTube donated you the site today you would be bankrupt next month no matter what you did with advertising.
